"A Changeling of Pace!"

- “Twilight! Twilight!” Spike, a young purple and green dragon, runs into the Ponyville library waving a scroll. “You got a letter from the princess!”
Twilight Sparkle looks up from her book. “What is it? Is it urgent?”
“Very,” he declares.
Grabbing the scroll with her magic, Twilight read through it quickly, an alarmed expression growing on her face. “Spike,” she said with a grim look on her face, “go get the Elements of Harmony. I’m going to get our friends.”

"Well, Twi? You gonna tell us why we're on the express train to Cantorlot?" Applejack asked impaitently.
"Of course. An hour ago, I received a letter from Princess Celestia. She believes that the Canterlot is in peril once more."
"Of course it is," Rainbow Dash muttered, not happy to haven been woken from her daily nap.
Looking straight at her, Twilight clarified, "You don't understand. The changelings are back."

- The ponies found themselves in the audience chamber of Canterlot, waiting for Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
“How do you think they know the changelings are back?” Fluttershy whispered to Twilight.
“I don’t know,” she replied, her voice filled with worry.
“Well, we’re about to find out,” Rarity observed with a nod of her head in the direction of the large doors at the far end of the room.
Sure enough, the herald stomped the floor with his staff. “Her Royal Highness and Sovereign of the Sun, Princess Celestia! Her Royal Highness and Monarch of the Moon, Princess Luna!” he announced. The six friends bowed as the two rulers walked to their respective thrones.
“My little ponies, that is not necessary,” Celestia said with a warm smile. “You have saved Equestria enough times, to forego that silly formality.
“Indeed,” Luna continued without a hint of a smile, “And we must call upon you once again. We have suspicions that the changelings are gathering their strength again.”
“Uh, with all do respect, yer Highness, couldn’t they jus’ be tryin’ to recovah from their last invasion attempt?” Applejack questioned.
“Normally, yes, we would think so,” Luna replied with a troubled frown, “but we also have reports that ponies have been disappearing throughout Canterlot.”
At this, the ponies gasped (or eeped and hid behind Twilight, in the case of Fluttershy). “You don’t think they’re...dead do you?” Twilight asked.
“Worse,” Luna said. “We have reason to believe they are using ponies to make more changelings.” This distressing news was the final straw for Rarity who promptly fainted.
“Now you see why we need you six here,” Celestia said. “We have magically quarantined Canterlot to make sure no disguised changelings can leave. Your train was the last thing to leave Canterlot.”
Picking up after her sister, Luna continued, “We have narrowed down the suspects to twelve ponies.” With a nod, a unicorn in the armor of the Royal Guard exited a door and returned with six ponies. “Unfortunately, we have also found hints that the changelings may have gotten to one of you six, possibly without your knowledge.”
“I am most sorry, my little ponies,” Celestia said, her face full of regret, “but you must understand that this is for the good of Equestria. We can take no chances. This investigation will have to be performed amongst yourselves, for we cannot risk being alone with changelings. After all, we remember what happened to Princess Cadence.”
“I- WE understand, Princess,” Twilight said as she bowed her head.
“Don’t worry, Princess!” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, “We’ll stop these changelings if it’s the last thing we do!”
“For all our sakes, let’s hope it’s not,” Celestia chuckled.
“We’ve wasted enough time,” Luna stated. “Now you all must vote on who you think is a changeling. I will return tomorrow and cast a spell to force them into their true form. Be warned, this spell can kill a pony if they are not changed.”
“Waaaait a second,” Pinkie piped up, “Why can’t you just cast it right now on all of us?”
“An excellent question, Pinkie,” Celestia replied. “Unfortunately, the spell takes a full day to charge and can only be cast on a single person, due the amount of magic required. But enough talk, you have a job to do. Remember, the fate of Equestria rests in your hooves. Good luck, my little ponies.”
