"Snooping as usual, I see!"
The screens lining the walls of the abandoned laboratory lit up, surrounding Sonic in an eerie glow. On each of the many screens, a sinister bald head stared down at him. Perhaps not entirely intimidating as he had intended, but at least Robotnik always knows how to put on a show.
"But," he continued, "that is of course exactly what I wanted you to do, Sonic!"
"Why don’t you just show yourself, Eggman? Well, I’m guessing you wanna keep your toys a day or two longer before I trash them, so I can see where you’re coming from!"
The taunt went unnoticed. How unlike the professor to ignore an insult. This was when Sonic realised that he was actually witnessing a pre-recorded message.
"What a drag," he complained, "is there a way to speed this up?"
"While I have you successfully lured away from your cozy little birthday celebration, I have taken the liberty of making a few... adjustments to the group of misfits you call your friends. Do you recall the little incident in which you carelessly ruined my beautiful amusement park? Well I have salvaged the mind control device, and improved it tenfold! Your friends have been your weakness in many respects, and now they shall be your downfall!"
"Messing with my friends, Eggman? That’s nooooo gooood!" Sonic wagged his finger to the empty room.
"Think you can stop me?!" growled the recording as Sonic sped away from the lab, back towards where he knew his friends were waiting in Green Hill Zone, for his 22nd birthday.

Sure enough, upon arrival Tails rushed to explain to Sonic what had happened in his absence, and proposed the best solution that he could think of for their problem. A game which Tails had come very familiar with during his many long and lonesome night as his computer.

They would play, a game of Mafia.

The scenario, ladies and gents, is that a number of Sonic’s friends are possessed by Doctor "Eggman" Robotnik. Take them out, before they take you! Best of luck to all of you. There are many unconventional roles, but I am very much looking forward to seeing how you all play your parts~! ^__^
