Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
Okay, since you guys seem pretty set on this, (and the fact that I have a massive headache right now that is showing no signs of improving later on) polls are closed. Starting update now.
----------------------------------------------------------
Cloak was pushing out the bottom lane. He was able to take out the second tier turret, but perhaps that wasn't the best idea. Now he was way overextended.
*ping*
"I see him. Let's--"
*ping*
"Yeah. I know. We're--"
*ping* *ping* *ping* *ping* *ping* *ping*
"OH MY GOD! STOP PINGING! WE'RE RIGHT HERE! JUST JUMP ON HIM!"
Everyone showed up, and instantly took him down.
"An ally has been slain."
Zyq was approaching one of his allies to help back him up; the enemy's middle inhibitor was wide open, and having two people there to take it as fast as possible would be ideal.
On his way there, something suddenly struck him. It happened so fast, that he didn't even notice what it was. That didn't matter, though. Shortly afterwards, a burst of magic hit him, and he went down.
"An ally has been slain."
And yesterday went so well...by comparison...
Day 6 starts now. Polls close Friday, August 10 at 11 PM CDT.
Consecutive non-voters:

- Cloak:
You summoned Jarvan Lightshield IV, the Exemplar of Demacia. As the crown prince of Demacia, Noxians are his mortal enemies, and he is determined to bring all who oppose Demacia to their knees.
Ultimate: Cataclysm (Cooldown: 2 days)
Jarvan strikes an area of ground so intensely that he creates a crater deep enough to prevent escape. Each night, you can choose trap someone within this crater, preventing him or her from performing any actions that night.
You win when the Noxian summoners are defeated.

- Zyq:
You summoned Xin Zhao, the Seneschal of Demacia. Once an imprisoned Noxian gladiator, King Jarvan II of Demacia broke in and rescued Xin Zhao, offering him a position among Demacia's vanguards.
Ultimate: Crescent Sweep (Cooldown: None)
Xin Zhao sweeps his lance in a horizontal arc in front of him. This will knock back everyone around a targeted individual, preventing any harm to come to him or her.
You win when the Noxian summoners are defeated.

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
Aboivotan.
I don't know if he's Mafia or the Survivor (and I've avoided voting for him due to the chance of him being the latter), but a guy who's online all day doesn't miss 4 days of voting accidently, and voting for Axel after he let it slip that he was mafia in a public chat does not help much. If he's a survivor he's trying to pull a Nale on us, if he's mafia he's just playing badly and having a behavior he never had before, either way I'm sure that Aboi isn't a townie, and I really don't feel like losing to a player who broke rule 5 for no good reason.
Today is lynch or lose situation, but one of our players is proven innocent (Panda), so our situation is not so terrible. If we do this today we will be able to turn this into 2 townies against the last mafioso, and with Panda's innocence proven, it will be an easy move for the other remaining townie.
Aboi - 1 - Mentlegen

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
I'll assume you guys are done here. Polls closed. Update inbound.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone was bunched up together. No one had a chance to get wards out, so everyone was standing around blindly. Suddenly, Aboi's champion jumped on Mentle's champion. This didn't go over so well for him, though; a 1v4 is never a good idea.
"An ally has been slain."
Only four summoners remained. Things were looking bleak. Panda moved up a little to kill some minions. It seemed as though one of his allies wanted some farm too. But, instead of striking a minion, he dashed straight into Panda. He recoiled back to his original position, and repeated the action. This was powerful enough to one-shot Panda, and he fell.
"An ally has been slain."
Link looked away from the scrying pool, at Phoenix. "So it's you! You won't get--Urgh...!"
"An ally has been slain."
Link stumbled backwards. His shift of attention was enough to get him killed. "You...!"
Mentle shifted his attention to Link, his face beaming a crooked smile. "Looks like you made a poor choice."
Link looked over to Phoenix, who was showing an eerily similar smile.
"Thanks for helping out in our little experiment. Soon, Demacia's summoners will meet the same fate as you, and Noxus will rule over Valoran!"
"Oh. This really isn't necessary, but just to make this a complete victory..." Mentle nodded at Phoenix, and they both moved their champions to the Demacians' nexus. A few quick strikes, and it burst with a grand explosion.
"Gee gee. Noob."
Night choices, etc. coming up.

- Spoiler:
- Aboi:
You summoned Poppy, the Iron Ambassador. After her father was slain on an important delivery to Demacia, Poppy was appointed as the yordle ambassador.
Ultimate: Diplomatic Immunity (Cooldown: 1 night (if activated at night), or 1 day (if activated during the day))
Poppy focuses on your target so intensely, anything else anyone does won't affect her. As long as you have this activated, only abilities of the person you have targeted will go through to you. Every other ability that targets you will be blocked.
You can also choose to activate this during the day. If you do, votes against your target will count as 2 instead of one. However, if your target dies, you do not retain invincibility over night.
You win when the Noxian summoners are defeated.

"An ally has been slain."
- Spoiler:
- Panda:
You summoned Galio, the Sentinel's Sorrow. Galio was created and instilled with magic to become a living sentry for the walls of Demacia.
Ultimate: Idol of Durand (Cooldown: 2 nights)
Before the end of the day, you can choose to activate this ability. Galio becomes shielded with thick rock armor, and draws all attention to himself. Your identity will be revealed, but you will prevent the execution for that day. Becoming a solid stone statue, it will even stop your own lynching.
You win when the Noxian summoners are defeated.

Noxian victory
- Spoiler:
- Link:
You summoned Luxanna Crownguard, the Lady of Luminosity. Lux is a very talented light mage born into the Crownguard family, one of the houses most loyal to the throne of Demacia.
Ultimate: Finales Funkeln (Cooldown: None)
Lux fires a beam of light so intense that it injures any target caught in its path. It also grants sight of the area it engulfed. You will be able to see who visited your target at night, but you won't be able to figure out anything else. In addition, if you vote for any person you noticed on the next day (including your target), your vote will count for two instead of one.
You win when the Noxian summoners are defeated.
- Spoiler:
- Mentle:
You summoned Jericho Swain, the Master Tactician. Swain was able to make his way to the top of the Noxian armies' ranks, despite his start as a crippled young boy. He hides a secret that only the bird on his shoulder knows about.
Ultimate: Ravenous Flock (Cooldown: None)
Swain takes on his true form as a demonic raven. You can choose to activate this at any time during the day phase. This allows you to shift one vote from you to a different target.
Remember, you have the ability to perform a standard night kill. Only you or one of your allies may act at night.
You win when you and your allies (Axel and Phoenix) are able to outnumber Demacia's summoners.
- Spoiler:
- Phoenix:
You summoned Emilia Leblanc, the Deceiver. Leblanc is the head of the Black Rose, a secret Noxian society rumored to be the true head of the dark city.
Ultimate: Mimic (Cooldown: 2 days)
Leblanc casts 2 spells in succession, with the second one containing the most potency. You can target one person at night, damaging him or her. This will cause that person's vote to not count the next day. The next night, you can target the same person, and you are guaranteed to kill him or her, regardless of any night actions taken. The cooldown of this ability starts on the day after the bypassing effect should take place.
Remember, you have the ability to perform a standard night kill. Only you or one of your allies may act at night.
You win when you and your allies (Mentle and Axel) are able to outnumber Demacia's summoners.

Titles:
The carry: Cloak
Starting at night 3, up until he died, Cloak was dead on in his suspicions. If he had not been lynched day 5, Zyq would have been safe.
The [unintentional] feeder: Leo
Practically everyone went for him night one. Unfortunately, this also meant Phoenix was free to kill him the next night.
The support: Link
He targeted two different mafia members in succession. I just wish I had given him tracker powers rather than watcher powers.
The tower-diver: Axel
Not sure if his slip-up in Skype is what actually caused him to get lynched, but them's the breaks.
The tower: Rofl
[8:51:54 PM] Magna Mentipede: Couldn't do much, Axel accidently revealed his role in a public chat, and Rofl WHO WASN'T EVEN PLAYING called him out even though Axel deleted it in time
The jungler: Aboi
He was not around for literally two-thirds of the game, yet each time he voted, his instincts were right. (Not sure if he picked up on Axel's slip the first time he voted, but whatever) If only his ability protected him from getting lynched as well...and if only he ever used it...
The instalocker: me
I clearly did not test all the aspects of this round. Cooldowns, having a mafia governer, some abilities. Hell, at the last second, when Zyq asked me about his role, I had to take away a side effect where he had to vote for whoever he wanted to protect. And it seems the whole cooldown thing discouraged people from using their abilities, which is something I did not intend/want to happen.
Live and learn, I guess.

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
Welcome to the League of Mafia patch preview. I'm Orion, and I'll be going over some of the changes that were made prior to League of Mafia's release.
The game's story was first meant to be the actual champions acting on their own. Having the summoners plot instead was much more fun to write. Besides, no one reads all the lore on all the champions to care enough anyway.
As a tie-in with the original plot, Evelynn was meant to be the serial killer of the game with a one-use hiding capability. She was cut due to lack of participation, which I honestly am happy about.
Fiora was originally planned to be the game's bus driver, but Urgot's ult made so much more sense. If Fiora was in the game, her ult would have had a 2 day cooldown, another improvement Urgot had over her.
Katarina was originally the third mafia member, instead of Leblanc, to fit in with the most influential Noxians. But her ult didn't really translate too well to any of the common mafia roles.
I thought about including Riven as the vigilante, but her backstory is more complicated than I cared to dive into. She would've had a bonus passive. Being voiced by Cristina Vee, Leo would not be able to do anything to her.
Thanks for tuning in for the League of Mafia patch preview. Don't forget to subscribe to-- Oh wait. This isn't YouTube. Nevermind.

Wow, Pheonix was obvious near the end of the game, but Ment, shit, I never saw that coming.
Several times I thought. "Hm. It might be Ment." But then brushed the thought aside because He was the first one to vote for Axel.
Bravo.

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
Man, Link is going to be so pissed when he finds out...he contacted me at the second or third day and I've been using him ever since.
A special thanks to Aboi. If it wasn't for the lack of fucks you gave about this game, missing 4 days, Link would move against Phoenix as soon as Cloak was proven innocent. Link was really sure about Phoenix and there was no one else he suspected, Aboi was the only person with a behavior so weird that I could use in our favor.
My role would normally be too strong, as it would be 3 mafiosi on a 13 players game, but since I was forced to use it, with Phoenix voting on me, so soon to be able to save Axel, lynching me would instantly reveal the rest of the mafia, that and some roles in the town were absurdly strong for such a low number, like Poppy (and a lynch stopped who reveal his innocence PLUS and investigator), not to mention that Axel accidently revealed he was mafia in a public chat...one or two investigations by Vayne and we would lose this.
I'm really sorry for using you Link

Cloaklogic disregards all normal logic.
Therefore, you only suspect townies and really good mafia.
You will lynch every townie to get one mafia.

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
Ah ha! How lovely! It definitely pays to have Ment as part of your team. Well done, good sir. And I can't forget you being you, Phoenix. Altogether you guys made this happen.
As for myself, well I definitely slipped up on skype in the mafia chat but I wasn't too worried after a while. Eventually the town was going to lynch one of us, better me to be sacrificed than our mastermind, Mentle or our wildcard, Phoenix.
Anyway, still have to give the town some credit in at least suspecting who my partners were. But I must lol hard at how much Link had been played by Mentle. That was what really made our victory easier after I was lynched.
All in all, good job everyone. I'm sure we all had fun.

Re: Round 23: DEMAFIAAA! League of Mafia
In all seriousnees, I should've picked up on it the instant that he mentioned survivors. The only way that could worry him was if he was mafia. Goddammit. Just................goddammit.
EDIT: Ok, I'm gonna say that I should never try to re-think things. Reasoning in the long as hell spoiler.
- Spoiler:
- On night 1, after my last post, I had thought about watching Scept instead in the hopes the mafia would try to twist my words to look like I'm mafia. I then decided it was too much of a long shot and stuck with Leo.
Night 2, I had considered watching Leo a second time but then I decided against it as I wasn't sure I would be allowed to do that.
Night 3, I completely failed when I tried to make Phoenix look innocent and then watched him hoping they'd take the bait. My original target? Vat. This was also when I got the feeling either Zyq or Phoenix could be mafia so I contacted Mentle to see if certain roles were viable. That went well.
Night 4, well, I kinda figured I would be the target so I knew I couldn't do anything.
Night 5, another major mistake as I not only revealed who the doctor was to Mentle but I also watched Panda as I was second-guessing my suspects. If I didn't do that, I would've watched Zyq again since I knew he could die but Panda couldn't.
Night 6......well, I'll use an exercept from my chat with Mentle:
[10/08/2012 10:23:48] Link Lab: Mentle, unless you've lied to me this entire time, Aboi can only be mafia.
[10/08/2012 10:39:46] Link Lab: Ugh...dammit, I'll lynch Aboi. But if you turn out to be mafia..........
[10/08/2012 15:49:04] Mentlegen: I could say the same about you after going for Panda and Cloak...
[10/08/2012 15:49:17] Mentlegen: but no, I really think it's Aboi and Phoenix
[10/08/2012 15:50:54 | Edited 15:51:02] Mentlegen: My only worry is that Panda will notice I've been voting for the same people you do and think me and you are the remaining mafia
[10/08/2012 15:53:40] Link Lab: Right. I was getting worried because you were still acting like there could possibly be a survivor. Also, that is a worry.
I was originally going to suggest we kill Phoenix first then we see what happens but I knew I would come off as too suspicious if Mentle really was innocent.
And that concludes the ramblings of a mad man. Hope you enjoyed a look at the deranged Link logic. Again, just.................goddammit. HoNk hOnK

Not really, I'd do the same as a townie...I just refuse to lose to a Survivor who thinks completely changing his behavior and skipping days is a good way to play that role. It worked once because we didn't know about the role and because the mafia eliminated good players and left the derpy "harmless" Nale alive. In this case I'd rather lose to the mafia than let someone who broke rule 5 win.
Also, don't be so hard on yourself for Zyq's death, I had figured out he was the doctor before you acted like you knew he was innocent, right after the update. Since you shared you line of thought, here is our's, in the final days:
- Spoiler:
[09/08/2012 02:16:50] Pheonix: My ult can only get aboi regardless if hes protected, but if we target another, then it would fail. Who ever is the doctor know that Link is innocent. You could vote cloak, making him use cloak logic to vote you, which then you can move his vote
[09/08/2012 02:17:21] Mentlegen: I don't think getting Cloak lynched is an issue
[09/08/2012 02:17:45] Mentlegen: and I think Zyq might be the doctor
[09/08/2012 02:18:11] Mentlegen: he is going with the top name of Link's list, he probably trusts him
I would think it was either Aboi or him, if Aboi didn't miss so many days, so it helped us once again. I tried to come up with a role that would fit a LoL champ and ended up with a Bomb variant (if you searched for it, you'd find Kog'Maw, a character that fits that power), who would kill everyone who targeted him at night if he was night killed. I didn't put a lot of thought because I planned to kill you to convince the rest to follow your list, once they found out you were a Watcher (making them go for Cloak and making them think Phoenix was innocent). My invented power backfired when Zyq saved you, as you wouldn't risk using Watcher powers on me, it would be easier to catch Phoenix killing someone. At the end, the combination of Panda's power, Zyq's save and your Watcher powers while suspecting Phoenix got us close to defeat.
[09/08/2012 14:03:09] Mentlegen: Things are getting way too dangerous
[09/08/2012 14:04:03] Mentlegen: with few people left and Link not targetting me, his role got a lot more power
[09/08/2012 14:04:12] Mentlegen: and Zyq is protecting him, it seems
[09/08/2012 14:04:57] Pheonix: Wait, can I ult Aboi and you still use standard mafia kill this round?
[09/08/2012 14:10:06] Mentlegen: No
[09/08/2012 14:10:29] Mentlegen: we are limited to one kill and I don't think we can kill Aboi now...
[09/08/2012 14:10:42] Mentlegen: if we do, people are going to get you
[09/08/2012 14:10:56] Mentlegen: he might be the last person that Link doesn't trust
[09/08/2012 14:19:06] Mentlegen: But I don't know, I think I will need you to do a standart kill tonight
[09/08/2012 14:19:20] Pheonix: how come?
[09/08/2012 14:20:48] Mentlegen: Because Link won't be watching me and kind of suspects you
[09/08/2012 14:21:09] Mentlegen: so he won't target you and me, and he can't target himself
[09/08/2012 14:21:34] Mentlegen: so he will either watch Panda, Aboi or Zyq
[09/08/2012 14:22:04] Mentlegen: I can't let him see me killing anyone
[09/08/2012 14:22:12] Mentlegen: our last hope is my co-op with him
[09/08/2012 14:22:36] Mentlegen: we don't know if the doctor has a CD or if he can't target the same person twice in a row
Without knowing how Zyq's powers worked and being forced to keep Aboi alive to lynch him, we decided that killing him was the safest route, specially when he should be in cahoots with you by that time. That's why I didn't confirm with you if he really was the doctor, as it would be obvious that I was using you.
I was ready to sacrifice Phoenix if you had positive results on him, as even if you chose your target randomly it would be easy to choose our target when there were 3 possible options. This game was much closer than you think, and your powers really put pressure on us. You just trusted me too much.
