Excuse me touhou enthusiests but if i wanted to learn more or try out one of the dozens of games what one should i start out with and who is not claimed by leo that is still cool?

Any Taoist character is probably a safe bet for Waifus.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is a nice introduction I think, plus (Personal Opinion) Best Girl Ex Boss.
Scarlet Weather Rhapsody is a good intro to the fighters I'm assuming since people seem to like the hitboxes so much.
Ten Desires is the "Current" shooter, until Double Dealing Character comes out.
Hisoutensoku is the "Current" fighter, for a little while longer, until Hopeless Masquerade comes out.
The ones with Aya don't ask me about, I never payed much attention to those.
Also, Phantasmagoria of Flower View is somewhat different than others in the series, being a competitive shooter instead of the traditional "Dodge bullets, fight boss, repeat" formula.

EoSD is pretty low-tier, Ten Desires is the only Windows game that's worse.
Hisoutensoku is just an expansion to Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, essentially the same game just with some additions.
Imperishable Night is the best place to start out due to having a Spell Practice mode and being easier than most of the other games. Aside from that, Mystic Square and UFO best games.

Wonky hitboxes, poor spell patterns, generally unpolished compared to the other games in the series.

It's like an intermediary between the PC-98 and Windows games, and they don't mesh together well.

I dunno, Marisa may be overrated but I don't think she's TOO bad.

And who knows, maybe like Hisoutensoku they'll expand on this game with some more characters and bonus stuff.

Anyway to be honest though in my opinion, if this was the only cast we're getting then frankly I think we could have bothered to have waited for about at least two or three more characters. I say this because sprites are seriously expensive and a pain to make flow nicely.

The lack of returning/sword using characters makes me a sad puppy.
