"WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

It was a sound that both Lan and MegaMan remembered from their past as the source of the noise stood before the blue Navi. Well, he was floating but that wasn’t the point. MegaMan was panting as he stood point his buster at the darkled, none of his attacks seemed to be working again against this foe.

"Are you okay MegaMan?"

Lan was concerned for his NetNavi and partner while he could do nothing but sit and watch. Every battlechip he sent in to help the Navi barely did a scratch to the vampire-looking Navi.

"Lan…I’m okay…"

MegaMan was still up on his feet and wasn’t going back back down from ShadeMan. Even if the odds looked like they were against them.

"Fu, fu, fu. I had expected better from you after our last fight. I think you will make the SMASHING meal after I finish crushing you!"

Sending more battlechips to MegaMan, Lan figured he and MegaMan would need to keep up the pressure on ShadeMan, even if they couldn’t hurt him. If they gave up then who was going to stop him? Using the sword battlechip, MegaMan swung at the dark Navi before disappearing, only to reappear only a second later some distance away.

"WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Without warning, ShadeMan raised one of his arms and from his wing came multiple flying bats which came hurling straight at MegaMan. Before they knew it, ShadeMan had disappeared. And there was only one way he could’ve went. That place.

"MegaMan, we can’t let him get away! We have to go to the Undernet!"

MegaMan figured he’d say that, but he was right. They couldn’t let him get away or more victims would turn up because of the darkloid.



One chase through virus infested routes later…

"Alright, this is it, Lan. But I haven’t found any sign of ShadeMan yet…"

The Undernet was a mixture of hell itself, a terrifying void and damaged pathways that looked ready to break at any moment. No matter what, it was always a creepy atmosphere in that part of the Net.

"I have heard of your situation, and I may be able to help you…for a price…."

Another voice from their past. MegaMan remembered hearing this voice when he tried to acquire a way to stop the Alpha program if it got loose. He wasn’t sure if the voice was friend or foe but he did get what he needed from him, even if he never met the source of the voice.

"What price?"

The blue Navi waited for his answer.

"Perhaps you have heard of a certain game. Mafia. Enter this game of mafia here in the Undernet…and you will find the one you are searching for, and more…"

Yeah, the both of them had heard of it. There were some that had played it at school while others had played them over forums. Too bad about Church of Falcon…

Lan spoke up.

"And more…? What do you mean?"

"Enough talk. Will the two of you enter or are you declining?"

The both of them didn’t like the way the voice had mentioned the TWO of them. It didn’t look like this would be a mafia game restricted only in the cyber world. Nevertheless they both accepted to join.

"Very well. Give it your all. You will find that this game of mafia has more for you to lose than you think…"
