Round 45 - Mafia Story

Yes, it's merely the name differences that confuse me a little. I'm used to the gameplay and understand a new role's full potential once I've heard what its ability/abilities is/are once.

@Shadi: Yeah some names and mechanics are a bit different here. I find these games to be more like the ones on mafiascum.

(I've played one or two games on mafiascum, wasn't my cup of tea. Too many rules and restrictions on players and hosts and not enough autonomy).

As for pming, the way I understand it is that they usually allow pming between players but this game has masons...so yeah.

I personally hate pm restrictions unless you're playing with locations (e.g. you can only talk to or target a player if they are in the same location as you are). I also think that free pming is an integral part of the game since it allows players to interrogate each other in private and lets normal villagers do behind-the-scenes detective work. Furthermore, it helps the mafia manipulate other players by gaining their trust in private, and general lends a more adrenaline-filled atmosphere (when you have 20+ players on irc all talking in the main channel or pming each other rapidly trying to get information, things can get exciting and very unpredictable as more information is gathered and players manipulate each other and hem and haw trying to find out who is the weakest link, so to speak).

But let's see how this goes. PM restrictions or not, I think Axel will be able to provide us with a fun, interesting game. :)

So apparently I will have a test on the 22nd other than the one on the 24th that I was expecting, so I may have to skip this game. Keep my name on the list for now though.

I was originally going to allow PMs, but then I thought of the recruiting "kill" for the mafia and it was too good to pass up. Shame it didn't get to be used.

Now that I think about it, I probably should have still allowed PMs. Would have made for some delicious shenanigans. Ah well.

Just arrived home and man am I late getting back. I still need to work out a few kinks so the opening might be delayed by an hour or so. But we WILL start today.

So, things turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected when I posted that and now is kind of late, but I will have to drop out, the game has plenty of players anyway and Axel seems ok with it.

Sorry for the trouble, Axel. Too bad I will miss Cave Story mafia out of all themes...
