Round 27: Lylat Mafia

A few hours into the battle, there was a sudden flurry of shots all aimed at Nyu. Nyu dodges as many shots as he can but some manage to hit. To avoid further damage, he boosts away from the main group and then does an aerial U-turn.
Nyu starts moving slowly back to the pack. He watches as one of the fighters moves away from the rest to get a better angle. Nyu moves closer and fires a Smart bomb. As smart as the bomb is, it can't do anything when Nyu's aim made the bomb go just too wide to even damage his target. Knowing that only the squad leader would have access to the bombs and that he couldn't have had time to obtain one, Nyu immediately tries to flee towards the area the Venomina attack force came from.
He didn't get very far before Great Fox blew him out of the sky.

The Commander springs out of his seat when he hears the explosions. "What just happened? Why did the Great Fox shoot down that fighter?"
"The fighter tried to flee after using a smart bomb."
"WHAT? Did he hit anything?
"No sir."
"Excellent. Send the drone out when the battle's over and we'll confirm if he was an infiltrator or not."

When the venomians eventually retreated, the drone zoomed out and quickly returned with Nyu's Black box.
It didn't take long to confirm that Nyu was indeed a venomian infiltrator.
"Oh, did you find anything useful on Peppy's black box?"
"No sir. I think the bombs are being planted near the engines."
"I expected as much. Well, analyse this Black box. There must be something useful on it."
"Right away, Commander."


"Damn, I wish we found him sooner. We could've told him who to target. Of course, it would've helped if he actually hit his target."
"It doesn't matter, we've got to keep up the pressure. You'll plant the bomb tonight. Steal the black box again, if you can. Your target is...."

Once again, the sirens sound off at max volume. Leo's fighter is the first to launch and as he gets ready to start fighting, he gets scattered everywhere as his ship explodes.
The recovery drone searches and searches for the Black Box but to no avail.
"Ugh...dammit, I hope we eliminate whoever it is that's stealing the black boxes."

Nyu couldn't use his bomb wisely.

Stalin, it might be a good idea to confess you are lying about being the Investigator, probably to make people go with your hunch, before you lynch the roleblocker. I doubt you are mafia, simply because you wouldn't sacrifice yourself just to take a townie down, not with 10 players left. I doubt you are the Lyncher too, as I think no one would use that role after DA's last round.

If you really aren't a mafioso in some kind of crazy gamble, what's going to happen next is that I will be revealed innocent on my death, the mafia will keep you alive for tomorrow, and the town will take care of lynching you.

But, given possible shenanigans, you must have been very sure you could trust him. Perhaps your investigation gave you his role? Seems a bit risky of you otherwise.
I may be just too paranoid, but all the evidence you're giving is just too convenient for me to swallow.

Yes, I investigated Leo and the co-operated with him.
Unlike Nyu, he was not following any of the patterns of a mafiaite, and I investigated him specifically because I wanted an Ally.

The battle had barely begun and already Mentle had taken damage. His fighter was in bad shape but he was able to stay alive for a few hours until he was chased mercilessly by a Venomian. Eventually, it managed to cause enough damage that Mentle lost control of his ship and he spiralled into the ground. When his ship crashed, there were some explosions.
The black box is recovered as soon as possible. The Commander is almost certain they got another one.
His glee quickly turned to horror when Slippy appears on screen shouting "Whoa, Help me! Get this guy off me! Aaaahh, I'm hit! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
"But...but those explosions.....Analyse this black box at once, something isn't right."
"Yes, Sir! Also, analysis from the infiltrator's black box is complete. Star Wolf are the other infiltrators. Also, it appears that the Venomians are being led by Andross's nephew, Andrew Oikonny."
"Understood. Any more useful information?"

As morning comes, the pilots are already in their ships, waiting for the alarm. It sounds off and the fighters launch seconds later. Not long after, Panda explodes in a ball of fire.
The drone manages to recover a black box from the wreckage.
"Before we see who they just killed, was there anything useful on Slippy's black box?"
"We saw Leon Powalski plant some explosives behind the seat. Slippy never knew they were there."

They display an image from the last recording and instantly recognise the Squad Mechanic.

Mentle thought he was a goner. He was right.

Eh, I figured a hidden power would result on this, but I thought it would be either hidden Miller or a Framer, not a Framer that basically converts me into the Miller. Don't blame anyone for getting lynched after what happened, and it also had a good side, not to mention I mostly ignored this round due to famiree bsness and was way off in my earlier suspicions.
