Art Thread
Oh boy one of my favorite topics. I'm sure even if you're not into art you love artwork done by others.
This thread is for posting:
>Original Artwork you did yourself
>Requests for artwork and responses to them
>Critiques
>Questions and Answers regarding digital and traditional art
>Artwork done by others
>Cosplay and EGL (Elegant Gothic and Lolita) and questions and answers regarding that
>And for the bare minimum of it all, photography
>Tutorials
>Sprites and 3D animations
REMEMBER TO/THAT:
>Not imagedump lest it's done by linking (this means you Nale)
>Be nice and productive in your critiques and answers, there is nothing to be gained from harsh feedback; nothing it can do that constructive criticism can't! (Basically to say there is a difference between criticism and constructive criticism)
>Ask for a critique of your artwork if you want one, remember art can be fun too, it doesn't always have to be critiquing, though it is in some form ideal (Basically just don't rate something if someone doesn't ask to be rated on it)
>If you request a drawing, don't expect it to be done by some master (not that we have any yet), and don't expect anyone to even take the request into consideration. People that want to draw have their own time to do things so don't force them.
>Alternatively, if someone takes your request, don't treat them as a god, and as for the artists themselves, don't expect to be treated as one either
>Just as importantly with any request, YOU MUST PROVIDE A REFERENCE (e.g.: Someone wants a picture of person A brofisting person B, provide references for both, provide in a proper image size/link, regardless of whether you expect everyone to know those people on these forums or not.)
>Not every question can be answered, but it should be expected of someone that knows the answer to respond if they can
>Credit the original artist whenever possible
>Commissions and Requests DO have a difference. Commissions are allowed but MUST be at a reasonable price and must not be involved with illegal activity in any way like everything else. Though for the simple sake of art, requests are preferred
>NOT BE A DICK/POST OFF TOPIC
>Try to skim the thread to make sure nobody already posted what you did
>Have fun
And of course:
"BUT I CAN'T DO ART AND I WANT TO GET BETTER!"

It's your choice whether you want to improve at art or not, I'm just leaving these here for the sake of advertising it.
Remember if you decide to take up the journey of art for the sake of getting really good, it's going to take a long long long long long time. You're gonna have a lot to learn. Of course there are artists out there with natural talent, but art isn't just a matter of talent like anything else, most of it is a matter of determination and skill. Almost every professional will tell you they suffered through countless critiques, trial, and error to get to where they are, and that nobody else deserves different.
Most of my personal art life began at around 5 years old was spent not taking art seriously up until last year. Then I had college and I barely had time to improve but I'm still trying my hardest.
But of course (as this is pretty much the only valid point Tom Preston has ever made) it's your art, and in the end it's your choice on what to do with it. Nobody can tell you otherwise. So go ahead and draw simply for fun if you want to!

Because I'm going to be repeating that a lot probably.

You went with perspective, and I see that, but from what I see, her right leg is supposed to be sort of kneeing the air, so it should be a bit larger than the left leg. Other than that, the helmet is a bit lopsided. I'm no expert in this so take my words with a grain of salt, but FEEDBACK HAS BEEN GIVEN.

I think it goes without saying that stupid/NSFW stuff like that isn't welcome here. Since we are a small forums that pretty much already knows eachother.

Amy's left arm is shortened, expression on her face needs touching up to match anger, mouth in particular, hand is a little undefined as is the arm canon, body type doesn't match Amy's, there's no light direction, you're giving off the perception of way too much flatness instead of actual 3D shape (lineart is already flat, don't add to it), stop using crayons.

Re: Art Thread
Yea, don't worry I was only kidding~
I think it could really benefit from being inked. Mostly due to the deepness of the red, the pencil doesn't feel quite solid enough. If you go over it with a biro or ink pen I think the extra definition and solidity would be cool.
Second thing is a lot tougher though: perhaps you might want to shade it. Of course, it may be that you stylistically chose to make it block colours, but the material of the helmet and the hammar is a kinda reflective metal/plastic, n'est pas? I see you've done it on her shoulders/bracelet, so it seems a shame not to go the whole way.
In any case, it's good. I can't help but wonder if the number of people who are into both Amy Rose and Megaman might be a bit small, but an artist should always draw what he or she wants :P

1) I was actually pretty worried about the expression. I, too, think it's not quite there.Alpar wrote:

2) Definition, one of those things I can't figure out.
3) Shading, my greatest weakness...
4) And use... what? They're colored pencils, actually. I don't have a tablet.
1) Hrm... there's a thought. But what the heck is a biro and where do I get one?Zink120 wrote:

2) Please see above. The accursed shading is what I really want to fix first.
Re: Art Thread
I was terrified for a moment by that question. But then I realised: language barrier, lolScept wrote:1) Hrm... there's a thought. But what the heck is a biro and where do I get one?
Wiki says: "In British English the word "Biro" is often used as a generic term for any ballpoint pen." That help? haha
Re: Art Thread
Indeed it does, and duly noted. What color, though? Black? Matching the corresponding color?
Re: Art Thread
I would say start with black, yeah. Doing it with multiple colours is hard to pull off, and it can be tricky to know which colour to use when two different ones meet.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Re: Art Thread
Sorry if I sounded like a dick earlier but I had to make my message quick at the time. Anyway, if they are, then either way you're gonna have to learn how to color without making things look... "scratchy", if you get the idea.
I can't wait for college to be over, for me and Zink. I wanna start drawing again and if Zink made the avatar he's using now thrn that puts me miles behind Q_Q
Also I too would recommend using a ballpoint pen, but for lineart. I still suggest you work using various colors, you don't wanna fall behind in anything, it completely affects the overall quality of your work.

It's SMASHING, there's no symbol drawing whatsoever and the anatomy is top notch.
There's a complete indication of cheek bones, the proportions are well done, the eyes aren't horrendous kawaii uguu, the cel shading has obnoxiously good accuracy, and the background is so well done its beautiful radiance is making my eyes unable to withhold it with its mortality. The lineart has incredible surmounts of depth and you really went all out with all the possibilities you could.
100/10 I should be the one asking you for advice

This induced the absolute greatest art boner I've ever had in my entire life. And I'm sure it won't be going away for years, probably even decades.
I don't think I can find a single flaw, save for some of the utmost nitpicky ones but even then...
