Polls closed. No coin flip required, but this update might take a little bit.
Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Story stuff. Part 1.
Your last mafioso, StalinCommander (Reisen Udongein Inaba), couldn't last very long on her own.
Story epilogue, a few paragraphs of the girls doing stupid stuff. Like usual.
GAME OVER.
TEAM HAKUREI VICTORY.
I'll post the remaining roles and the night choices in a minute. As well as hand out some awards.
- Spoiler:
- “Well, what now, little miss random-finger-pointing?” Louise asked with more than a hint of irritation in her voice.
Reimu glanced over the remaining players. Aside from herself, there was Sanae, Alice, Yukari, Suika, Reisen, Komachi, Byakuren, and Aya. “You. Rabbit.” Reimu said, pointing towards Reisen. “Spill it.”
“W-what?” Reisen asked.
“Nue and Mamizou were the only two with shapeshifting powers, so everyone here is completely real,” Reimu said. Sanae, Alice, and Aya are my friends. Suika is too drunk to do this stuff. Byakuren wouldn't ruin the night like this. Komachi is far too lazy, and almost as drunk as Suika. Yukari is... well, glossing over her for now, that just leaves you. Admit everything now and I won't make a coat out of your pelt.”
“Waaaah~,” Reisen whined in fear. “M-master knew what they were doing from the beginning, and asked me to join them to test some of her new drugs...”
“Eirin, huh?” Reimu crossed her arms. “Figures. So, it's just you, the nue, and the tanuki?”
“Yes~,” Reisen sobbed.
Reimu puffed her chest out proudly. “And that, as they say, is that. Looks like I win. As if there were any other possible outcome.”
Louise threw her hands up into the air. “That's it. I'm done. I'm going back to Makai. You're all insane.”
“H-hey, at least stick around until the end of the night,” Alice said.
“Alice, I don't know how you can live with these people,” Louise sighed.
“Because we're winners,” Reimu laughed. “Did I mention I won?”
“Yes, yes, we heard you,” Louise muttered.
Your last mafioso, StalinCommander (Reisen Udongein Inaba), couldn't last very long on her own.
- Spoiler:
- StalinCommander:
You are Reisen Udongein Inaba.
The flower-viewing party took an annoying turn when your master forced you into some strange game to test her new drugs. Each night, you and the rest of your team – your leader Mamizou Futatsuiwa (Dracojounin7) and partner Nue Houjuu (Phoenix) – must pick one player to kill.
This is a variant of the normal “poisoner” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
2 spirit: You will poison a target player (this counts as the mafia's nightly kill). A poisoned player will die the night after they are poisoned and cannot be protected, but will have their spirit increased to its maximum the day after they are poisoned. You cannot do this if you are the only remaining mafia member.
2 spirit: You will carry out the mafia's nightly kill normally. You cannot do this unless you are the only remaining mafia member.
2 spirit: Brew and drink a potion. This potion will have a random effect; it could be good (such as rendering you immune to investigations) or bad (such as increasing the amount of spirit used by your abilities). There are a total of 10 potions; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J. Pick which one you would like to make and PM me your selection. You cannot brew the same potion twice in a row.
+1 spirit: Brew a Grand Patriot's Elixir instead of a random potion. This will increase your spirit recovery by 1, but there is a chance of something... bad happening. The chance increases each time you drink this elixir.
You start with 2 spirit and gain 2 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
You win when the mafia outnumbers the town, or when a town victory has been deemed impossible.
Story epilogue, a few paragraphs of the girls doing stupid stuff. Like usual.
- Spoiler:
- “Right, right,” Aya said, scribbling notes down on her paper. “And that's when the Hakurei miko came in and deduced you to be an imposter with a SMASHING chain of logic, causing you to react violently and-”
“Like hell that's what happened!”, Nue screamed. “She just pointed her finger at me then knocked me out!”
“Okay, okay... let's see here... 'Miss Houjuu is still very upset with the miko's use of force, despite it being in self-defense'...”
“I said that's not it! Stop writing that!”, Nue yelled.
“Just let it go, Nue,” Mamizou said, taking another sip of her drink. “You might even make the newspaper's front page tomorrow.”
“I don't want people hearing such lies!”, Nue cried.
“Sakuya, bring some more of those little cakes,” Remilia commanded.
“Right away, milady.” Sakuya placed a few small pastries in front of Remi.
“Ah, could I have one too?” Reisen asked.
“Of course.” Sakuya handed one of the sweets to Reisen.
“Wow, this looks delicious,” Reisen chirped. “Thank you.” Just as she was about to bite into it, a hand swept in and snatched it away from her. “H-hey!”
“You lost, Udonge,” Eirin said, munching on the small cake. “Cake is for winners.”
“B-but master, I didn't-”
“No excuses,” Eirin said sternly. “...Hm, actually, you know what? You can have one.”
Sakuya handed another cake to Reisen.
“Wow, thanks master!”, Reisen said, quickly popping the pastry into her mouth.
“But in exchange,” Eirin smirked, “since you were unable to test those drugs I asked you to, I'll need to use you as the guinea pig later tonight~.”
Reisen nearly choked on her food. “N-no way!”, she whined.
“Clear your schedule for the next few weeks,” Eirin smiled. “These ones are strong.”
“Waaaah~”, Reisen sobbed. “Sakuyaaa~ do something~...”
“I'll say a prayer for you tonight,” Sakuya said, taking a small bow.
“Let's get started right now, Udonge,” Eirin said while taking a syringe out of her pouch. “Punishment time~ ♥”
“See, this isn't so bad, is it?” Byakuren asked, handing a cup of tea to Louise.
“Things in Gensokyo aren't as crazy as you think,” Alice mused.
Louise sighed. “The thought of drinking tea with a shinigami is still strange to me.”
“First,” Komachi slurred, “I'm drinking booze, not tea. Second, I'm just a ferrywoman, not a reaper. Third, I'm off-duty anyway.” She took another large swig of sake.
“Tea is for wusses~,” Suika said through sips of her own drink. “Learn to hold yer liquor.” She picked up a spare cup, poured some sake into it, and held it out for Byakuren.
“I apologize,” Byakuren said, “but I don't drink alcohol.”
“Eh? That's stupid,” Komachi laughed.
“It's against my religion,” Byakuren said sternly.
“Your religion is stupid,” Suika added.
“What happened to 'I just want to go home'?” Yukari asked.
“I'm too busy basking in the glory,” Reimu said.
“Hey, you didn't win alone,” Sanae said. “I want some glory too.”
“You need to share with me as well,” Mima said. “I was the one who saw through Kogasa right off the bat.”
“And I was the one who forced you to play the game, Reimu,” Yukari reminded Reimu. “And gave you the confidence you needed to win.”
“So we can all agree,” Mima said, “we did more than Reimu.”
“Yup,” Sanae nodded.
“Mm-hm, definitely~,” Yukari teased.
“Oh piss off,” Reimu said. “Just admit that you're all useless without me, and we can get on with the evening.”
“Not likely,” Mima said. “You'll need to surpass your mother's skills before I come to rely on you.”
“Which I don't see happening any time soon,” Yukari laughed.
“I hate all of you,” Reimu said, chugging the remainder of her sake.
“Love you too,” Yukari said, tussling Reimu's hair.
And so, the night ended rather normally. Byakuren's purpose of human-youkai interaction was overshadowed by Nue and Mamizou's game, (which the only commonplace newspaper in Gensokyo chose to report on instead), and the Hakurei shrine maiden was once again forced to interact with people she claimed to hate. Louise decided to check herself into an insane asylum after returning from Gensokyo, but there weren't any to be found in Makai, and she didn't feel like going back to Gensokyo any time soon.
So... good end, I guess.
GAME OVER.
TEAM HAKUREI VICTORY.
I'll post the remaining roles and the night choices in a minute. As well as hand out some awards.
Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Good show.
Good. Show.
The amount of cahooting and doublevoting was annoying.
As was the attempts to save my teamates and the doublevote fuckery.
AS WELL AS MENT AND DA READING ME LIKE A FUCKING BOOK.

Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Remaining roles. Not bothering to color the text; all the names are green.
- Spoiler:
- Mentle:
You are Reimu Hakurei.
The current Hakurei miko and resident incident-resolver, you attended the flower-viewing party with your friend Yukari Yakumo (DA), then were dragged into this game at her request. Let's wrap things up quickly so you can go home.
This is a variant of the normal “detective” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
2 spirit: You investigate another player. You will be told your target's role name, allegiance, and role description. Note that as long as your mason Yukari Yakumo is alive, you will never receive false investigation results.
+2 spirit: Your investigation will ignore abilities that would interfere with the investigation itself, such as roleblockers and bus drivers.
+1 spirit: Jailkeeper ability. When you investigate someone, any abilities they are using will be blocked.
You begin with a full 5 spirit, and recover 3 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
You win when the mafia has been eliminated.
- Spoiler:
- DA:
You are Yukari Yakumo.
The great and omnipotent Sage of Gensokyo, you attended the flower-viewing party with Reimu Hakurei (Mentlegen), then joined this game with her to alleviate your boredom. Try not to cheat too hard.
This is a variant of the normal “bus driver” and “nexus” roles. Your abilities and their costs are:
1 spirit: You may swap two people around during the night. Any abilities that target one player are switched to the other, and vice-versa.
+2 spirit: The switch will be one-way; rather than swapping two people around, you take all the abilities that target one player and move them to the second. You cannot target yourself with this ability unless your mason Reimu Hakurei is alive.
1 spirit: Any night abilities that target you will be redirected to random targets.
You begin with 3 spirit and gain 3 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
- Spoiler:
- Cloak:
You are Alice Margatroid.
A magician living in the Forest of Magic, you attended the flower-viewing party and decided to get involved in this game to show off your creations. Time to shine.
This is a variant of the normal “inventor” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
1 spirit: You create a random type of doll. You can then use that doll's effect at a later night (using the dolls does not cost spirit unless otherwise stated in their effects, but you must wait at least one day from when they are made to use their effect). Note that the doll will break after you use it. You can use as many dolls as you want each night, and can create dolls even if you are using others the same night.
+X spirit: You may choose which type of doll to create. The spirit cost is dependent on the doll you want to make (dolls with 15% or higher chance cost an extra 1 spirit; dolls with 10-14% chance cost an extra 2 spirit, dolls with less than 10% chance cost an extra 3 spirit). You cannot create a Goliath Doll with this ability.
0 spirit: You may give one of your dolls to another player to use.
You begin with 4 spirit, and recover 2 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
Here's a list of the dolls you can make, their effects, and the chance you have of creating each one.
Shanghai Doll (20%): You may attach this doll to any other player, and that player will be protected from the next hostile night ability that targets them.
Hourai Doll (15%): Allows you to vote a second time, without any extra spirit cost (PM me your second vote).
London Doll (12%): Investigates a target player during the night.
Tibet Doll (10%): Restores your spirit to its current maximum.
France Doll (10%): Roleblocks a target player during the night.
Orleans Doll (10%): Switches two players around during the night; all abilities that targeted one will instead target the other, and vice-versa.
Kyoto Doll (8%): Stands guard in front of another player; you will be given a list of who targeted that player during the night, and a general idea of what that player did.
Russia Doll (7%): You may use this doll to change another doll you have into any other type (you cannot change them into a Goliath Doll).
Holland Doll (5%): Allows you to make a vigilante kill during the night.
Goliath Doll (3%): Allows you to make a vigilante kill each night. This doll does not break when used. If you are killed during the night, this doll will be destroyed in place of you.
- Spoiler:
- Vatonnage:
You are Sanae Kochiya.
A priestess and the third god of the Moriya Shrine, you showed up to the flower-viewing party only to find yourself roped into a strange game. Better play along – you can't be held down by common sense in Gensokyo.
This is a variant of the normal “doctor” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
1 spirit: Target another player to protect them from being killed that night.
+2 spirit: Your protection will last for two nights rather than one.
+1 spirit: Your protection will not stop a mafia member from being killed.
X spirit: You may revive another player during the night. The cost for this ability is equal to your current maximum spirit minus one (for example, if all 5 of your spirit orbs are intact, the cost is 4 spirit), and any empty spirit orbs you have at the time of activating this ability will be shattered. You must spend a minimum of 3 spirit to use this ability (effectively, due to the voting cost, this means you can use this ability a maximum of two times).
You begin with a full 5 spirit, and recover 2 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses also uses 1 spirit.
You win when the mafia has been eliminated.
- Spoiler:
- Zyquux:
You are Komachi Onozuka.
After a long day of avoiding work, you came to the flower-viewing party to relax, then after a few drinks, decided to join in this game.
This is a variant of the normal “vigilante” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
2 spirit: Once per night, you may target one player to kill.
+2 spirit: Your kill will ignore all other abilities (including roleblocks, protections, and switches) and always kill your intended target.
5 spirit: This is a daytime ability – PM me during the day (before polls close) when you want to activate it. You will commit suicide and attempt to take with you each player who was voting for you at the time. Anyone voting for you has a decent chance of being killed (the chance depends on how many players are voting for you).
You begin with 4 spirit and gain 1 spirit each morning. You also gain 1 spirit each time a player is killed (not counting players that were killed by you). Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
You win when the mafia is eliminated.
- Spoiler:
- Sceptilianblade:
You are Aya Shameimaru.
Head writer (and, in fact, the only contributor) for the Bunbunmaru Newspaper, you attended the flower-viewing party to report on Miss Hijiri's ideals, then decided an article about this game would convince more people to buy your newspaper. Don't forget your pen.
This is a variation of the “commuter” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
4 spirit: During the night, you will fly away and all night abilities that targeted you will miss.
2 spirit: This is a daytime ability – you must PM me during the day (before polls close) if you wish to use it. The amount of votes currently placed on you will be reduced by 1.
+1 orb: Another vote will be removed from you. The cost for this is shattering one of your orbs. Your remaining orbs will not be instantly refilled if one of your orbs is shattered by this ability.
You begin with 3 spirit and gain 3 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit.
You win when the mafia is eliminated.
- Spoiler:
- Hunter Axel:
You are Suika Ibuki.
An oni and one of the four devas of the mountain, you attended the flower-viewing party... then something happened... and now some people are playing a game or something. You don't really know; you're quite drunk.
This is a variant of the normal “doublevoter” role. Your abilities and their costs are:
2 spirit: You may vote a second time (the second vote should be sent to me via PM). You may use this even if you are officially abstaining from voting.
+1 orb: You may vote a third time (again, send your choice to me via PM). The cost for this is shattering one of your orbs. Your remaining orbs will not be instantly refilled if one of your orbs is shattered by this ability.
You begin with 3 spirit and gain 2 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 1 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 2 spirit (these amounts are just for your initial, public vote; costs for additional votes are listed with your abilities).
You win when the mafia is eliminated.
- Spoiler:
- Zink120:
You are Byakuren Hijiri.
Head nun of the Myouren Temple, you invited everyone to a flower-viewing party, but they quickly got distracted with this silly game instead. You decided to join to try and make sure no one gets hurt too badly.
This is a variant of the normal “roleblocker” and “poison doctor” roles. Your abilities and their costs are:
1 spirit: You can target a player to roleblock during the night. Any abilities that player uses will fail, though the spirit they used up will still be reduced. In addition, if you block the mafia member who is carrying out that night's kill, the kill will be prevented.
2 spirit: Slip an antidote to a player. This will prevent a player who was (or currently is being) poisoned from dying due to it.
4 spirit: Any abilities that target you will be negated.
You begin with 4 spirit and gain 3 spirit each morning. Voting during the day uses 2 spirit, and abstaining from voting uses 1 spirit. Congrats, you drew the ONE role that has a lower abstain cost.
You win when the mafia is eliminated.
Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Night choices. First number after the name is their daily recovery, second set is their current spirit/maximum, then finally their actions and the cost.
Night 1
Night 2
Night 3
Night 4, not that it mattered
As you can see, the second day, the doublevoter targeted Phoenix, as did the role that copied the doublevoter's powers. Simultaneously, Scept (who currently had the most votes) used his ability to knock one off himself. So Phoenix went from 2 to 4 votes, while Scept went from 4 to 3.

Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Awards:
"Strangest role assignment" award: Ment and DA. DA pulled the same role that screwed with him almost every night in the last Touhou Mafia game, previously used by Ment, who got DA's old role as well. And this time they were masons to boot.
"Luckiest role assignment" award: Zink had to be away, and pulled the one role with a lower abstain cost than vote cost. As well as being able to protect himself. Lucky.
"DIE ALREADY" award: spp was killed twice in one night. And technically Mima was already dead to begin with.
"You should be dead by now" award: Scept was saved twice, once by voting shenanigans, and once by paafekuto timing with his commuter ability.
"Nigga you just went full retard" award: Cloak, I'm still trying to see what the fuck you were doing. And he's tied with Zyquux, the most trigger-happy vigilante I've seen. Three nights. Two targets. Both innocent. Luckily one was also the mafia's kill, and he got screwed out of the other.
"Shut the fuck up and make real awards" award: Me!

Potion D: Increases spirit cost of all abilities (sans mafia's normal nightly kill) by 2, and spirit recovery by 1
Potion E: Next vote counts double
Potion F: Drains all spirit
Potion G: Investigations come back inconclusive
Potion H: All abilities you use have a 50% chance of failing
Potion I: Reduces spirit cost of all abilities by 1
Potion J: Cannot abstain from voting for rest of game
Grand Patriot's Elixir: Spirit recovery +1, 10% chance of killing you and a random player (40% for second use, 70% for third)

Re: Round 21: Sakuya, what's "mafia"?
Our cahoots worked pretty well, I was being really paranoid and afraid that Nue and the tanuki could shapeshift and trick me into thinking they were someone else. Armpit alliance assured investigations (and Vat told me of Stalin manipulating Cloak), while Axel made good use of his doublevotes even during days he was online for only a few minutes, too bad Stalin didn't fall for DA's trap on the second day, that would be hilarious.
Scept hid the exact day I was going to investigate him, but that also saved him from Zyq, who really wanted to kill innocent people in this game.
Well, better start writing my round.
