“I have gathered you here today to bring some grave news,” proclaimed Numbuh 362 to the gathered operatives. “The Kids Next Door have received information that the adults have managed to infiltrate the Moon Base. They have created some sort of device that allows them to be disguised as one of us.”

Shocked whispers circulated the room. “That’s right, they are already here.” We have narrowed down the suspects to the group gathered here. Kids Next Door R&D has utilized our 2x4 technology to develop this!” With a quick pull of a large, patched-up bed sheet, she revealed the giant contraption hidden underneath. It appeared to be a large vat, at least two stories high, with a computer in the side and a long robotic arm coming out from inside the vat.

A feminine computer voice rings out:
“Kids Next Door V.O.T.E.R.V.A.T.

Very

Truthifier”

“With this,” Numbuh 362 continued, “we can figure out who among us are traitors.”

“But what’s it do?” asked one of the operatives.

“Put simply, it will disrupt any adult devices found and teleport them to the Kids Next Door Arctic Base where they will be locked up in the Deep Freeze.”

“Well this seems simple enough! Let’s just throw everyone in!”

“Unfortunately, it seems to work on everyone thrown in, not just adults. As you know, once someone is in the Deep Freeze, they’re stuck there. As far as we know, there is no way to thaw them.”

“That seems a bit extreme... Why not just dump them in a desert or something so we can extract any agents accidentally thrown in.”

“No,” she replied with a shake of her head. “We cannot risk these adults that have managed to infiltrate our defenses to have the chance of getting free.”

“I see. But how do we decide who to throw in to the V.O.T.E.R.V.A.T.?”

“Simple. Each person can input the name or number of anyone in this room into the computer. At the end of each day, it will calculate the votes and automatically grab and process the person. Because it requires a full day to cooldown, there will only be one voting period per day.” With a sheepish look, she added, “Sorry guys, we might be here awhile.”

With a shake of her head, she quickly regained her composure. “Now then, we shouldn’t waste any more time. The adults may attack any time. Let’s get this over with.”

“A consensus has been reached.”

The V.O.T.E.R.V.A.T.’s arm shot out and grabbed Numbuh 3.

“NOOOOO! Put me down big meanie robot thing!” she exclaimed as she pounded at the metal claw with her sleeve-covered hands. “I’m the real Numbuh 3! STOP-IT-STOP-IT-STOP-IT! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” She continued to scream until she was dragged into the machine.

*BRZT GIRCH BREEET CHING!*
“Identity found: Numbuh 3.”

With a sigh, Numbuh 362 hung her head. “Well she’s out of our hands now. There’s nothing left to do but rest and do better tomorrow. Kids Next Door, dismissed.”


The door to Numbuh 1’s room slid open. Ten footsteps entered in unison. The shadow of five kids loomed over the bed of the sleeping operative. “Hello, Nigel,” five monotone voices intoned. “It’s delightful to meet you again.”

“Likewise, Delightful Dorks!” came the shout of

“What?!” Turning around, the Delightful Children From Down the Lane raised their Delightfulization Ray and fired a volley. With a quick roll, Numbuh returned fire with his S.P.I.C.E.R., but missed, vaporizing the pillows and blankets bundled on the bed.

“YAAAAAAARGH!!!” the combatants screamed. The blasts from the two weapons collided in a blinding light. When the dust settled, a bald kid with grey eyes and wearing a school uniform stood in front of the DCFDTL, no longer disguised as KND operatives.

“Delightful Children detected. Extracting...”

A glass tube shot out of the ceiling, surrounding the former leader of Sector V and the five unconscious kids. A whoosh filled the tunnel, whisking them off to the KND Holding Cells for processing.

When the operatives reconvened, they noticed they were missing two agents.

“Numbuh 362, sir! The computer logs show that Numbuh 1 and the Delightful Children were transferred to Holding last night!” Numbuh 86 reported with a salute.

“Thank you, Fanny. We’ve lost two good agents already, but we’ve already discovered the Delightful Children. You know what you must do. Kids Next Door, battle stations!”

DAY 2 BEGINS

Draco (Numbuh 3) was forcibly transferred to the KND Arctic Base
