"It was, actually. Thanks to your computer whiz, we have two 'deaths' tonight. Incidentally, she was one of them." A thin smile creased the Riddler's face. "She thought she was clever slipping past me. She disabled the other pod that's gone just as she lost hers. The other pod contained another one of your close friends." A picture of Oracle (pod Link Lab) and a picture of Mayor Lucius Fox (pod Axel) appeared. Batman banged his fist on the table next to him.

Batman wasted no time in grasping the lever and pulling. The screen flickered to life, revealing a large man with a mask.

"Bane." Batman breathed a sigh of relief. He also thought about making a "permission to die" joke, but felt that it would seem to come out of left field and therefore would reflect poorly on the individual writing the story. "Whose pod was disabled today?" he asked.

The Riddler folded his arms and scowled. "No one's. I don't know what he was thinking. So boring, c'mon, people, step it up!"

Batman turned back toward the pods. He had lucked out, but how much longer would that luck last?
