Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
MY COMPUTER HAS FINALLY RETURNED
AND THIS MEANS I CAN FINALLY START ON WHAT I HAVE BEEN PLANNING
GOD DAMN I AM UNUSED TO THIS KEYBOARD
AND THIS MEANS I CAN FINALLY START ON WHAT I HAVE BEEN PLANNING
GOD DAMN I AM UNUSED TO THIS KEYBOARD
- Hiee thee to the ocean city... To the Yggdrasil Labyrinth:
A journey to the blue depths...
To conquer the shadows of night.
Though you not know what this
means, you go towards Armoroad.
What awaits is time's end; death's
demise. A tempestuous dream...
To push away the unfathomable dark
and bring light to Armoroad...
A stormy adventure begins...
Welcome to the "Halolz screws up Etrian Odyssey 3" run! Whereas you guys are the player characters and I play the game! I'll be playing it with prior knowledge until the third stratum where at that point, I'll be going blind. This is somethign I have planned for quite a while and with DA's approval and my computer being back, I can start this! So without more time wasted, let's head in!
The ocean city Armoroad, far to the south, is said to have a ruin leading below the waves.
As if tacitly admitting it, the Senatus ruling over Armoroad have invited explorers to their city.
The invitation drew throngs of eager explorers who gathered to traverse the undersea maze.
But none of the throngs who came to challenge that maze were strong enough to master it.
The impenetrable ruins came to be known as the Yggdrasil Labyrinth, and its legend spread further...
You yourself are an explorer who has heard its legend and now sail to Armoroad to investigate
Your only objective: to challenge the Labyrinth and win fame and fortune. Your hour is at hand!
And thus we get control.
Well...
"Control."
There's only one real place we can go to right now and that'd be the Explorers Guild. So let's head there.
: Hello, newcomers. You're standing in the one and only explorers guild in the ocean city of Armoroad. I'm here to supervise all the explorers who find themselves in our fair burg. Here's a little something I give every new guild for signing up.
>Obtained Guild Certificate.
>Obtained Cross Script.
>Obtained Resolve Script.
>Obtained Offense Script.
: Now, let's get to it. First, write your guild name on the space provided on the certificate. Think hard, because that name may be known someday across the seven seas. It all depends on you.
And here we come to our first challenge of our run.
WHAT SHALL OUR GUILD NAME BE.

Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
- Part 2 of constructing our guild:
- Unfortunately, 765 Pro or bust does not fit within the 8 letter limit.
Fortunately 765 Pro does.
: 765 Pro, huh...? An odd name, but I like it. Well then, step two is registering explorers in your guild. You'll need to hire a few folks, but it's up to you whether or not you want to become a member too.
At the Explorers Guild, you can register explorers and organize your party. Choose your favored classes from the list and form a party of up to five explorers.
And thus we can start registering folks. As the game said, the party maximum capacity is 5 party members at once, but you can register up to 30 people. As the Guild Leader, I'll be registering myself as...
A Hoplite.
The Hoplite specializes in being the party tank, and is so vital to a party, it is the only class in the game capable of soloing the game. They're spear and shield wielders, and can equip the heaviest armor in the game. The Hoplite is a personal favorite of mine, and as such, I will go as the Hoplite.
The other classes available are as follows:- The Prince(ss):
Those of royal blood from kingdoms large and small. Their orders raise morale to turn the tide.
>Supporting combatants on either line.
- The Gladiator:
Courageous and strong, they eschew armor to display their trained bodies and fight with swords and hammers.
>Vigorous attackers of the front line.
- The Hoplite:
Their golden armor gives them unequalled defense, while their spears provide a strong offense.
>Defense specialists on either line.
- The Buccaneer:
These descendants of pirates learned to fight in gangs, supporting eachother rather than dueling.
>Cooperative attackers of the front line.
- The Ninja:
They hide in shadows and use the art of ninpou, the advanced practice of which can create duplicates.
>Special attackers who work on either line.
- The Monk (or as I call them: CLERIC CASTS FIST):
With the power of qi, they can both heal and inflict wounds. Their bare hands are stronger than weapons.
>Healing specialists of either line.
- The Zodiac:
Scientific magicians who manipulate the etheric energy of the stars. Highly valuable in battle.
>Elemental attackers of the back line.
- The Wildling:
Their rapport with the beasts gives them command over many animals. Some can even control lions.
>Beastly summoners of the back line.
- The Arbalist:
Experts in giant bows and cannons as big as they are, the firepower they provide is a worthy asset.
>Long-range attackers of the back line.
- The Farmer:
These farmers seek to apply their wisdom to navigating the Labyrinth despite their clumsiness in battle.
>Exploration specialists of the back line.
And now you guys are gonna decide what class you're gonna be. Pick a class, the portrait, and the palette. Like with how I did: Hoplite 2A. Where 2 is for the second portrait and A is for the standard palette.
Have fun.

Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
- Final part of guild constructing:
OUR TOWN EXPLORING TEAM IS COMPLETE
Our current formation. Now then, let's go!
: All right, looks like you're ready to go. Your next stop should be the Senatus to introduce yourself. Oh, but before you go, let me explain one more thing. It's about the documents I just gave you along with the guild certificate... Smart explorers actually read them carefully. If you don't feel like it, just throw them away... But if you hope to go all the way in the Labyrinth, you'd be well served giving them a look.
In this game, powerful abilities called Limit Skills can be used by up to five party members. Limit Skills can be learned by obtaining documents with the skill details written in them. Gather various Limit Skills and use them well to make your time in the Labyrinth easier.
AND NOW WE CAN ACTUALLY LOOK AROUND IN TOWN. Now, while the Senatus is important, I think it'd be smart to head into the shop first, gear up a little. That'd be Napier's Firm.
: What's this...? Unfamiliar faces? Let me guess: new explorers lured by the sweet scent of profit? In that case, welcome to Napier's Firm. We carry all the weapons, armor, and tools you'll require. Here at our firm, the customer is God. We'll spare no expense for those who line our coffers. Though that is conditional on you participating in a transaction. No window shoppers, please.
Napier's Firm is where we get everything we need, as she said. Healing items, equipment, everything. It'll later be upgraded for forging, as you may see. What does forging do? You'll see when we get to that.
Also while I was making this update, more people registered in the guild, so let's list them.
Tael...
Axel...
And Lynn (Cael).
It's gonna be messy when we get to the actual exploring ._.U
Anyways, let's take a look at the inn!
: Welcome to Aman's Inn, boss! Not only can you spend the night here, we have doctors to treat your wounds, too! So is this your first time in Armoroad? Isn't it awesome? Those clear seas! Those blue skies!
This is the only save point in the game aside from quick saving in the labyrinth. And this is where I think I'll save for now. As said, it's gonna be messy when the actual exploring starts, what with picking which classes to go with and stuff.
Next time: we visit the Senatus and receive our first mission!

If it's not too late, red headed girl Arbalest, or maybe Bucaneer that looks like poison, or maybe black haired loli monk, or maybe tanned old monk. Ah! I can't decide. Pick what class you think is best for your party.

- Session 2:
WELCOME BACK
First off, adding the new members. You can join in whenever, but there's a max limit of 30 people, and expect to lag behind a little as all new additions will be level 1.
Aboi...
Soapdish...
And Scept.
Setting up the combat party.
hay gaiz cookie cutters
Now, with enough time dawdled around, let's head for the Via Senatus.
: You're outsiders, aren't you? Let me guess. You were drawn here by the rumors of the Labyrinth. Then you'd best remember this: You stand in an assembly hall of the Senatus, Armoroad's government. And I am she who wields the Senatus' authority to manage explorers such as yourselves. This is where so-called explorers' skills are tested to sort the true warriors from the cowards. If you want to be recognized as true Armoroad explorers, accept the mission I issue you now.
Official requests from the Armoroad Senatus are known as missions. Carry out these missions to gain various rewards and advance the game's storyline. Select "Accept Mission" from the menu to see details.
As the game said, this is the main mission hub, though it serves for more than just that. We'll get to that after the first mission. THE FIRST MISSION WE GET IS...
Mapping.
: The long and short of it is that you're to draw your own map of the Labyrinth's first floor. The guard there will have more details for you. Look to him before you proceed. Ah, but you must have a parchment first, eh? Here is the blank map given to explorers. Use it well.
>Obtained Labyrinth Map.
GASP
WE HAVE A LOWER SCREEN
And with a new map in hand, we shall...
Go to the shop cause we need better equipment.
Though we can't get much in terms of armor or weapons right now. This will change later.
One armor and equipment optimization later...
We finally head for the Forest Entrance.
No music plays here at all. Once we're sure that we're ready...
We head in.
- Pre-entering Labyrinth dialogue:
- : You're with the 765 Pro guild, right, boss? Have you been around Armoroad yet? They call this the ocean city, 'cuz so many people from across the seas wind up here. I bet you'd enjoy a walk around town before you go down into the Labyrinth.
: Have you gotten used to this city, novices? You seem troubled... A piece of advice, then. Skilled explorers have few qualms at parting with their money. Stinginess never saved a life. All things depend upon money. Your finances dictate whether you master Yggdrasil or die penniless. Remember that. So then, what can I get for you?
: Helloings! Have you entered the Labyrinth yet? ...Ah, you are just heading out? You may want to gather info before you go in there. Oh, by the by the way, what's the name of your guild? ...765 Pro? Tht's cool! I will make sure to be remembering it. I am hoping to do a lot of business with you, 765 Pro!
: Oy, the stream of fools chasing the Yggdrasil legend never ends lately. Even experienced warriors get swallowed up by that Labyrinth every day... If you've come here as weekend warriors, I'll be straight with you: hit the beach instead.
>Enter Inver Port
: ...Are you new explorers here in Armoroad? You don't look quite ship-shape to me yet. You'll need permission from the Senatus to go on voyages, so you should seek that out first.
>He boots us out
: If you're as talented as you'd have me believe, there'll be many more opportunities to come here. Just don't get lost in the assembly hall on your way here!

Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
- Session 2 part 2:
Welcome to hell. We take a few steps in.
"Though many explorers have lost their lives in its halls, it is surprisingly beautiful. The breathtaking flowers here are enough to make you feel as if you are simply out for a nature walk. But you mustn't let your guard slip even for a moment! Go forth and explore, always remembering that this forest is fundamentally a dangerous place."
And now we focus more on the map.
This map is your only means of not getting lost in the labyrinth. This place has claimed lives, and it will claim ours too. Getting lost will not be one of those ways.
We draw walls like this...
And we add floors like this. Everything related to the map is touch screen controlled. Thankfully you guys don't need to do much regarding it, leave the mapping to me as the Guild Leader.
One quick mapping later, we have a room.
Observant readers will have noticed that the earlier light blue thing in the corner is now green. That's the enemy proximity radar, as I call it. Or an explorer's sense of danger. The closer we get to a battle, it will change color. Once it becomes red, we are only a few steps away from a battle.
Only one way to go, so let's head that way.
"As you have some skill at adventuring, some 3 Skill Points should be available to you. To spend them on skills useful in the Labyrinth, open the Main Menu with the Y button. Select Custom to allocate these skill points. Combat, healing, and protective skills will all be essential to survival during your journeys. You may already be aware of this, in which case this advice is happily unnecessary. If so, then hesitate no longer to begin your adventure in this lush, green forest!"
The game is correct.
We all have 3 skill points we can allocate to skills available at the moment. And these skills WILL be necessary.
But who am I to judge how you guys play? So here is the skill calculator for you guys to use and decide your skills. Keep in mind, it does spoil a few things later in the game, but nothing related to the story. All inactive party members will be getting points in Combat Study to help them level while not in the party. Once in the active party, they shall be rested and allocated skill points where they want. As for me, being the tank...
I put one point in Guardian, a Hoplite exclusive skill that reduces physical damage taken, and two points in Shrug Off, which heals all status effects and binds on me. I'll be allocating points where you guys want them on your characters.
Now then, let's keep going.
>3 steps further east
"While appreciating the roar of the nearby cataract, you find a guard alone at a crossroad."
: I heard there'd be newcomers to the Guild coming. Welcome to the Yggdrasil Labyrinth.
"The guard greets you cheerfully, and then motions toward the unmarked map you hold."
: I'm sure they told you at the Senatus, but your first task is to map this floor. Mine, meanwhile, is to instruct beginners such as yourselves in the cartographic arts.
"Upon saying this, the guard explained slowly and plainly to you how to draw a map..."
I have already explained mapping, so I'll be omitting the tutorial text.
: That concludes your cartography lesson. Draw your map thus, then show me your finished work.
"The guard then steps back, as if to indicate that his duty has been discharged. You may do as the guard says and venture forth to complete your map, or stay and question him."
Now, we can't head this way cause that's the way to the staircase. Instead, we'll head south.
So far rather uneventfu-
wait
what is that blue on the side
Are those flowers?
Actually, this is a two way shortcut. In this game, as you progress, surely it's a pain in the ass to keep taking the long way, right? That's what the shortcuts are for, to make the trips easier and faster. Keep in mind, there are one way passages in this too, but the game warns about those. Also the short cuts can only be unlocked from one side, and this side is not it.
Marking the shortcut and continuing on.
Right behind our back is a shortcut...
AND A CHEST
WHAT'S IN THE CHEST
Nice. Nectars are basically this game's phoenix downs. However, they heal with minimal HP, so they're best used outside of battle, lest the enemies will easily bring down the receiver of the Nectar. Future nectars will fully heal HP, but they are expensive as FUCK.
This shortcut however...
can be used! Now we have a shortcut straight to the other shortcut when we unlock it!
As we were heading back...
Monsters attacked!
Our first monsters are...
DEADLY DURIANS
Deadly Durians aren't that difficult as early game enemies, but they're quite the annoyances as they can blind you. Blinding you lowers your evasion to 0 and greatly reduces your accuracy.
There's not much we can do other than attack, so attack we shall!
>Turn 1
>Gamage attacks Deadly Durian A for 11 damage
>Tael attacks Deadly Durian A for 2 damage
>Rofl attacks Deadly Durian A for 11 damage
>Leo attacks Deadly Durian A for 4 damage
>I attack Deadly Durian A for 12 damage
>Deadly Durian B attacks Leo for 4 damage
>Deadly Durian A attacks me for 6 damage
Though the game doesn't tell you exactly how much health the enemies have left when attacking, you can still see how much HP they have.
>Turn 2
>Gamage attacks Deadly Durian A for 9 damage
>Deadly Durian A slain!
>Tael attacks Deadly Durian B for 4 damage
>Leo attacks Deadly Durian B for 4 damage
>I attack Deadly Durian B for 9 damage
>Deadly Durian B attacks Tael for 3 damage
>Rofl attacks Deadly Durian B for 12 damage
By the way, don't expect me to do that every battle. For normal battles, I'll decide myself. I'll only do that in fights I consider notable. Like this very first battle in the game!
>Turn 3
>Gamage attacks Deadly Durian B for 12 damage
>Tael crits Deadly Durian B for 6 damage (all dat crit damage)
>Leo attacks Deadly Durian B for 3 damage
>Deadly Durian B slain!
After the battle, experience gained and items obtained will be displayed. Starting at needing 100 experience, those 96 experience points pushes up the required amount up to 81 exp.
"wait a minute that's too little for 96 experience!"
Actually it isn't. We have 5 party members. How experience works in this game is that it's divided by 5. 96 / 5 = 19.2. Rounded down, that's 19 each. Exactly as displayed.
>You've discovered a new monster!: Deadly Durian
>Discovered a new item: Green Thorn!
Our first victory.
