- Session 2 part 3:
Items obtained from enemies can't be interacted with, they have only value as a selling thing. However, it's those very same items that will get us better and better items as we progress through the game.MrNaleIt wrote:USE GREEN THRON
Now we head north.
Exploring a dead end, we come into a fight with two fanged fishes. The fanged fishes goes down easily.
Even further north, we come to a cross road. With the left one leading straight into a dead end. but in that dead end, you can do something!
"You find an old sign in front of the wall of trees, written in large print:
CAUTION! Not all roads in the Labyrinth lead ahead. Only explorers who are careful to examine their full surroundings will be able to continue forth.
You surmise that the sign, which contains elementary advice, was written for novice explorers. You tip your cap to its wisdom before returning to your investigation."
And thus we head the other way. Soon we find another dead end with something in it. A quick investigation reveals this to be a shortcut we can't unlock yet, so we just proceed.
The map is starting to look pretty good, but we're not done yet.
The first floor has these tiny pointless rooms that I do not understand what the point is with. Ah well, continuing.
Oh hey, a battle, wonder what we-
AH FUCK
Say hello to the Great Lynx, the bane of all low level characters. This thing has absurdly high attack power for this early in the game, and considering we have to use two turns to kill a single Deadly Durian, I think I'd rather want to run instead.
SO RUN WE SHALL
>Turn 1
>I use Limit Skill: Indomitable
>Great Lynx oneshots Rofl for 47 damage (EXACTLY HIS TOTAL HP)
>Gamage attempts to escape... but is unable to flee!
>Tael attempts to escape... but is unable to flee!
>I attempt to escape... and I succeed!
Once out of the fight I immediately use the Nectar on rofl, reviving him with 20 HP...
Sorry Gamage, but I'm gonna have to give you one less skill point to work with, for I am putting one point in Healing.
With a healer on hand, Gamage heals the whole team. This costs him almost all his TP, but it's worth it.
On the plus side, we're in front of a door. Let's head in.
Inside, we find a gathering point. This is one of the Farmer's specialities, as usually you'd need to invest in points to gather, mine or chop, which costs valuable skill points. The Farmer, however, has a skill that is all three combined. Though we don't have a farmer in the party at the moment so we can't do anything right now. I map out the room and leave.
Later we get ambushed by two Forest Frogs. We still take them down, granting the main team a level in the process! WOO!
Later we find, guess what, another interactable dead end!
"Gentle sunlight shines through the leaves and you hear the chirping of birds. It's so peaceful here... You don't sense any monsters around... This spot seems ideal to take a rest. But continuing your exploration seems more important than resting here, so you take your leave."
I mark the place for the future, before we continue the exploration.
At this point, Gamage has run out of TP, and we have no healing items, so I decided that we'd backtrack out of the Labyrinth and rest up.
The stairs out look like this, by the way.
Safety sweet safety.
With 10 out of the 20 ental we have left, we rest up at the Inn. Resting fee follows this formula:
5 * highest level on party = price
Seeing as we're all level 2, that makes the price 10 ental. Same applies for Treatment, where you recover from petrification or fainted party members.
Putting one more point in Shrug Off, I unlock Recuperate, a passive for Hoplites. Once I put points in that, I'll heal whenever I defend.
I then head into Napier's Firm to sell all items obtained.
>New items are in stock:
>Weapons: Makiri (Dagger)
>Armor: Strap Shoes
As you may tell, managing ental will be FUN.
We head back in and backtrack to where we reached with the map last time.
Two fanged fishes nets us a Red Scale.
Time to continue!
... and then a Great Lynx appeared. NOPE.
After escaping the Great Lynx, we move on.
Finding another door. Though I think I'm gonna need to battle first before being able to enter, going by the radar.
... Or maybe not.
"The peculiar flowers sway in the wind... their sweet fragnance grows more alluring... You consider resting here to more fully enjoy the flowers' scent."
>rest
"You rest your weary muscles, the beautiful flowers and their sweet aroma all around you..."
>Everyone recovered 10 TP!
"Now fully rested, you resume your exploration of the Labyrinth."
That's nice.
Of course, the moment we leave the room, we get blindsided (ambushed). But the Fanged Fish and the Deadly Durian goes down easily.
Further south, yet another interactable dead end!
"The footprints lead east, where you can hear something like an animal's cry beyond the bushes."
>Investigate
"As you carefully peer into the bushes, you find an animal caught an a hanging snare. You hear the cries of its brethren all around, as if in response to its piteous wailing..."
Now you get the choice of freeing the animal or not. As far as I know, nothing bad has happened whenever I did this, so let's do it.
>Set the animal free
"After you cut the rope with a knife and remove the trap, the animal nimbly jumps down. The animal is still young; once it is free, two of its kind that seems to be its parents emerge. You freeze... You can see that your luck is about to be put to the test! If your luck fails, the beasts will misinterpret your kindness and attack!"
>You've discovered a new monster!: Fanged Fish, Forest Frog
>Discovered a new item: Red Scale, Slimy Leg!

grashbar wrote:Actually it isn't. We have 5 party members. How experience works in this game is that it's divided by 5. 96 / 5 = 19.2. Rounded down, that's 19 each. Exactly as displayed.
19.2 - 19 = .2, .2 x 5 = 1 whole EXP that went missing. Complain to Atlus and tell them you want your experience point back.
Then give it to me.

- Session 2 final part:
...Uh oh.
"Your goodwill was misunderstood and now you must fight the beast who stand ready to pounce!"
And now we fight three platypi. Well shit. They ambushed us for some damage too.
We're doing quite badly too, as the Great Platypus is usually a second floor enemy. This was really bad luck on our part.
Their poison is wrecking our ranks, and now the whole front line is dead...
And now we wiped...

Well, time to roll out Party 2
Stalin Hopplite sounds good. We just need to know the color options he can pick from.

- Session 3: Good things come in threes:
WELCOME BACK
Last time, we got our asses handed to us thanks to RNG deciding that those platypi should be violent. Let's not go there this time. ZOOMING AHEAD.
A little bit later and we're back. Let's head down this way.
Looking to the east, we see a road that goes fucking nowhere.
Looking to west, however...
We see a shortcut!
And through that shortcut, we reach a spacious room...
With loot!
But then we got into a fight with a Great Lynx, and I deemed it a good idea to fight it.
It was not, but we still won.
I should mention, fainted party members get no experience. This means that, because Gamage and Rofl fainted, the exp was divided by three instead.
Anyways, in the yellow chest, we get...
An Amrita! Amritas are very rare to get by, and they heal TP. TP healing items are very sparce in Etrian Odyssey, and as such people tend to rely on the Inn instead.
In the silver chest, we find...
WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S LOCKED
Yep, Silver chests are locked and cannot be opened at this time. Tough luck.
After I map out the room, I haul back to town and heal up, before returning.
Returning back to town, I remember that because I saved before accepting the mission, I have to re-recruit the others. I fix that and add the new people.
... but then I found out that you keep people after all. So here's the new ones:
Zyq...
And Stalin.
17 slots left people!
I sell the mountain claw we got for a little bit of ental, and then get the idea of grinding a little. No point in seeing grinding, so I'll cut that out. See you in part 2!
>You've discovered a new monster!: Great Lynx
>Discovered a new item: Mountain Claw!
Also: for those that are too unsure with that to go with regarding skills can tell me if they want to leave it to me. Seeing as there's plenty of people here with not much knowledge about Etrian Odyssey.

- Session 3 part 2:
Everyone is at level 3 now. We should be much safer. Going to where we have yet to explore now.
Time to move on.
>2 steps later, a Great Lynx
One town visit and full heal later cause the Great Lynx wiped out the front line, we try this again.
So far so g-
After escaping, I now have a fainted Gladiator (Rofl).
...against my better judgment, I'm going on.
Because if I remember right...
...there's a shortcut here!
I zip back to town and heal up. Again. I also save. Better save than sorry.
Using the shortcut, I return back an- wait a minute what is that door
Beyond the door are two chests! The chests contain 100 much needed ental and A MEDICA II!?
Medica II's are potent healing items. They're basically the hi-potion of this game.
Up here is a chest I missed. Whoops. It contains a simple Medica.
Let's press on.
...into a dead end...
... wait.
The map is complete! Let's show it to the guard!
"Some questions come to mind, and you hesitate whether to ask them or leave him be."
>Report our success
"You present the parchment upon which you've inscribed your efforts thus far. The guard's previously stern countenance lightened upon examining your work."
: Outstanding. You've done a simply wonderful job here!
"His expression utterly transformed, the guard showers you with effusive praise."
: Go now hence to the Senatus and report to them your success to claim your reward.
And we shall do that.
Let's head in...
And report our success.
: Word has reached me of your success in completing the map. You've proven your mettle as explorers strong enough to challenge the Labyrinth. I'll authorize the sale of items at Napier's Firm which you may find necessary in your travels. I'll also send word to the pier that Guild 765 Pro requires a seaworthy vessel. That should allow you to set out on voyages whenever the seafaring urge may strike. Train yourself in battle on the open seas and gain power enough to someday grant my wish.
>Obtained 500 ental.
Upon completing a mission, we receive our reward and experience. Keep in mind, the experience is programmed to be a set amount for each party member. For a single party member, we would have just gotten 300 exp.
And with that we may le-
Whoa there, still gotta show this. All item discoveries and monster discoveries gets reported here. It's pointless, but it gives a nice sense of completion.
>Reported your encounter with the Fanged Fish, Deadly Durian, Great Lynx and Forest Frog.
Not to mention this place gives you the monster's accurate HP, attack power and defense power. It also lists what monsters drop what, so there's that. Though it won't reveal what they drop until you obtain them from them, just that they have something that can be obtained.
Item Compendium just serves to show the value of items.
Now that we've cleared our first mission, let's take a look at...
Our sea vessel!
: Ah, members of 765 Pro. This is Inver, Armoroad's largest trade port. ...Or, what's left of it. When the Calamity struck a century ago, the topography changed, and commerce ended. Since then, many have worked to reopen trade routes, but nobody can get ships out past these currents. That's why the Senatus and I are asking explorers to set sail and create new sea charts. The rewards are handsome indeed. If you can chart a course from here to the north, it'll be worth it. I've even gotten them to lend you a ship, exclusively for 765 Pro's use. Got a name in mind?
HURDLE NUMBER 2
WHAT SHALL OUR VESSEL'S NAME BE
>Discovered a new item: Frog Cheek, Sharp Tooth!
And with that, I'll wait until next day, to give more time on receiving more names. Save states are a thing~.
