So let's say fuck the formaldehyde, Defend Order on the front.

Agreed.Leo E. wrote:So let's say fuck the formaldehyde, Defend Order on the front.
TURN 14, AND FUCK NARMER.
Okay, so at this point, it is most likely better to heal up and defend the attack. We will survive then. We have a single Medica, IMO Leo should use it.

I'm pretty sure I can tank a hit, last one didn't do that much to me even without Guard Order or Defend.
Guard Order myself. If Indomitable is still going, I think you should keep trying to attack it and see if we get lucky.
Gamage could top off one of our HP, then defend, or try and get a lucky hit first then defend.

For the record, Indomitable has no turn limit, nor does it take a buff slot. There's only two conditions for it running out:
1. Battle ends
2. I take mortal damage.

What are the exact effects of defend? I took a 151 damage last time, grash took 111, and leo took 65. I healed grash for 46. If you need to make a move and I dont post again heal leo. Getting his passive up means also healing grash for a bit.

Defending cuts all incoming damage in half and GREATLY reduces ailment receiving chance. That's it. With my defending passive, I heal a small amount of HP whenever I defend.

My best option right now would be to use Charge Tactic and hope you can kill it.
Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
It doesn't take a turn.Leo E. wrote:My best option right now would be to use Charge Tactic and hope you can kill it.
We have a medica. A single medica.
You're the faster one amongst us. I still have Indomitable up. I was thinking around the same thing.
Use it on me and let us PRAY TO GOD.
Edit: Wait shit I just realized.
Because Gamage is down, you can't use Charge Tactic.
Edit 2: Did a quick check.
We're doomed regardless.
So you know what
Fuck it.
I'm fucking mad.

Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
- Extra small update just to finish the fight up:
Yes.
Bitter.
"As you let the victory soothe your aching muscles, Hypatia of the Murotsumi Guild rushes in."
Actually we cheated, but fuck that.
Also I noticed night is rendering properly now, yaaaaaaaay.
"The girl's surprised gaze shifts back and forth between you and the downed fish's carcass. From behind the awestruck stargazer comes a boy's voice, speaking in unctuous tones.
: Thanks! Now we can all go down into the Second Stratum!
"The fresh-faced ninja walks off, leading the girl by the hand while babbling enthusiastically."
: Come on, we gotta get back to Armoroad and get our stuff together to go deeper! Starting tomorrow, we're gonna challenge the unknown! Hope to see you guys there!
"You are free to return as well to report your momentous achievement or remain here."
As you may notice, the bugs are gone. The FOEs in this room have vanished.
So do we go back?
No. Not yet.
First off, we're heading here to get something I probably should have gotten before the fight against Narmer.
It's an Amrita.
... Ah well.
There it is.
The stairs down.
That's right. We're heading deeper. This might seem fucking stupid, but I have a reason for this. A reason coming up very shortly.
And thus I bid you welcome...
To the Second Stratum.
We're literally under the sea. In a grotto filled with air, surrounded by water.
"As you look this way and that in wonderment, your gaze alights on a figure before you."
Hey there, Kujura.
: But I suggest you cast aside any frivolous notions that you are strong enough for this Stratum. This is the Undersea Grotto. Somewhere here lie clues to the Deep City that sunk long ago. None have found them yet. Worse, many more explorers have vanished here compared to the realm above. Understand that the dangers here are far beyond anything you faced in the First Stratum.
Kujura is completely correct, the second stratum's enemies are much worse to handle than the first stratum. Be prepared.
"Kujura then turns to the north and motions for you to look in that direction as well."
: I leave you with this last piece of advice. Do you see that pillar of light?
: That is a Submagnetic Pole. Its workings are unknown, but it will allow you to freely travel between the Labyrinth and town. Perhaps it's some remnant of the Deep City's old technology... We have no way of knowing. What we may be sure of is that it is useful. Remember it during your travels in this Stratum.
This is the reason why I wanted to go down here before returning back up.
A Submagnetic Pole will allow us to save, and most importantly.
Take us back to Armoroad.
Had we used an Ariadne Thread, it would have been a waste. Not to mention we would be forced to take the long path down to the second stratum.
Now then, let's sell Narmer's dro-
This is why it's great to get a boss' conditional drop. They're worth SO GOD DAMN MUCH MONEY! But don't think of it as a way to grind for money. Narmer will not respawn until we've completed a certain condition.
Selling it unlocks the best mace in the game. How good is it? Look at my current attack.
Now look at how much Rofl's attack increases. It's insane. Unfortunately the price is also insane, so we're not getting that until MUCH later.
Narmer's normal drop unlocks a new crossbow for Nick.
It gives Nick a REALLY good power boost. I buy it and give it to Nick, seeing as hey.
We have money.
We also have a mission to report.
: Ahh, it seems you've returned whole from your battle with Narmer. A most praiseworthy feat. I had thought you to be whelps, but in truth, you seem rather skilled. Well then, Guild 765 Pro. I grant my permission to venture into the Undersea Grotto. Once a part of the ocean, its halls are filled with air now, and can be traversed. It's a part of the Labyrinth now. Do not go there lightly. As yes, I almost forgot. In recognition of your service of defeating Narmer... The Senatus has a reward for you.
LOADSA EXP
And here is Narmer's stats.
Now let's le-
Woman, do not disturb idols taking their leave.
: Murotsumi, yes...? I've authorized those two to go on ahead as well. If they haven't been by here yet, you can tell them yourselves.
At any rate, Narmer's fight was full of bullshit, and I just eventually had enough with fighting it for so god damn long. I kind of snapped when we started losing.
Next time, I might switch up party composition to try and use other members a bit more. We will also be exploring the Undersea Grotto.

Re: Halolz explores Armoroad's Labyrinth, an EO3 run
- I need to get a proper update schedule:
Welcome back to OH SHIT WE HAVE A DIFFERENT PARTY COMPOSITION
Due to the fact that we're past the first stratum, expect to see more variety in party composition. The first stratum is always the worst to get through, as you're still trying to get on your legs and get a working strategy in order. That is no longer that big of an issue.
Of course, with their levels, they're gonna need to catch up a little bit. That won't be too problematic though, especially with what we're gonna do. (Which I have completely forgotten by this point of resuming with this update, but eh.)
First off, the Bistro!- Scavenger Toma:
- Nah, I can't let ya buy me a drink today... I didn't find this out myself. This one's on the house. Ya know the Whorled Puffers, yeah? They say their Ebony Livers taste like the food of the gods. I should try it when I get back. It's real simple how you get it: ice one up. Freshness is everything with this thing. It rots real quick. Freeze the puffer, then yank it out. Ya got that? Don't tell anyone-- Err... I mean, go thank the chef who's drinking over there!
- Bistro's head chef:
- Have you ever eaten a Whorled Puffer before? If not, I highly recommend it. It's an Armoroad delicacy. Some say the liver is like ambrosia. But amateurs shouldn't try to cook it. Whorled Puffers secrete a powerful nerve toxin. If you're not careful, it can cause numbness of the limbs, paralysis of the body, and even blindness. If you want to eat it, come to my restaurant. I'll let you sample the finest blowfish out there.
- Elderly Amoro Group hunter:
- What's that you say? The Red Starfish are too fast for you to catch? Just blind 'em, then! When you're dealin' with monsters, you gotta anticipate 'em and do what they're not expectin'. No normal human can last long in the Labyrinth without using his brain! You do got one, right?
- Harpist Troubadour Wolfram:
- You're the 765 Pro Guild, aren't you? I've heard you've been to the Second Stratum. In honor of your travels... allow me to regale you with stories of the Undersea Grotto today!
- About the Undersea Grotto:
- Congratulations on venturing into the undersea Labyrinth! But all explorers must breathe, no? It's one of those things you take for granted without thinking about it... Normally, there's no need! But in this case, it may be worth considering. Men who don't think are scarcely more than apes. Why is there air undersea? Simple! It's proof positive of the city that sank into the abyss! The wondrous technology of old could do things one normally only hears about in fairy tales! Ordinary rock could be transmuted into gold. Creating undersea air passages would've been easy! In other words, you don't drown in the Undersea Grotto because that legendary city does exist! It's said to have close ties to the royal family of 100 years ago, but that's a tale for another day.
- About Yggdrasil:
- You see it every day, but you don't give it much thought, hm? There's a strange old story about Yggdrasil. Do you know the tale of the Porcelain Offering? Long before the Calamity, before Yggdrasil's time, there was a terrible epidemic here. Men, women, and children died left and right. The people despaired and prayed to the heavens... "If there is a god in this world, please save us!" Surprisingly enough, something like white, glowing snow began falling from the heavens! Those who touched the light were immediately cured! Mankind was saved from the epidemic! The next surprise for the joyous masses was a gigantic tree towering suddenly above them. That is the legend of Yggdrasil's descent. The white light was said to be ambrosia brought to save us. People called it the Porcelain Offering, and built their ocean city around Yggdrasil... Pardon the length, but that is the legend. Or perhaps it's more of a fairy tale... But I see you've noticed the discrepancy. Indeed, that tree you see now isn't the true Yggdrasil. The true tree sunk alongside the center of Armoroad during the Calamity. What we have now is a lifeless shell left behind when Yggdrasil sank beneath the waves. According to legend, that tree has many unusual powers... But I'll speak of those at a later date.
Did I speak out of turn? I must protest; my profession requires me to sing loud and long! ...Ah, but I jest, I jest. Come again, explorers, if you wish to hear my stories.
- Eyepatch-wearing sailor:
- Do you lubbers know of the famous island Tortuga? Rumor has it that the pirate king's treasure is buried there... But no one's found it yet. Just the other day, an infamous pirate crew in the east sea set off to Tortuga... But before they found the booty, the ghost ship let loose a cannon fusillade from the mist. They had culverin with them, but sounds to me like it wasn't any use against a ghost ship. If you're foolhardy enough to be interested, go yourself. You may recover the cannons, at least.
Well.
Let's head in.
Due to going straight to the Second Stratum, we start here, in front of the Submagnetic Pole.
Let's start off our exploration of the Second Stratum by going this way.
Oh hey, first battle in the Second Stratum.
Let's look at our current damage output.
Soapdish is our clear winner here, but that much was obvious considering his new weapon. Cael's got fuckall for damage because he hasn't bothered with the class exclusive skill.
Down here is a whole load of nothing.
Let's check up here instead.
A Coupon. This will let us make a purchase of anything for half price. It has only one use though, so don't think I'm gonna waste it.
Quick retreat because a Hungry Coral decided to have ninja brains for dinner. Let's do something that's not as dangerous for now, maybe...
That being killing Meregho Saeno a few times :V
With Cael FINALLY putting a point into Keburi no Sue as well...
Cael finally deals full damage from the backrow.
(This was 11 earlier)
After a while, I decided to do this quest.
: Oh, you are accepting this request? This is a tricky one. The Fish Extermination is a traditional event in Armoroad. This is your first time, yes? If the Fanged Fish and the Devilfish are left alone on B4F, they breed very quickly. So, the Senatus created the Armoroad Fish Extermination Day to wipe those pests out. The guild that defeats the most fish will get an extra reward! If you want to be coming in first place, you have no time for wasting! You want details, you go talk to the guard on B4F. Now go! Get fishwhacking!
We're admittedly kind of overleveled for this, but it's somewhat of a pain to do anyway, so now is the best time for it to not be too much trouble.
Huh, this guy has a different portrait. I don't know if it's because it's night or not. I'll be using the default portrait for guards for him anyways.
: The Senatus has issued this request to all the adventurers visiting the kingdom's bars. We would like you to defeat as many Fanged Fish and Devilfish on this floor as you can. In order to encourage you to do so, we have implemented a ranking system. A guild's rank is determined by the total number of these pests that are defeated. Last time, the Amoro Hunting Group won by defeating 50 fish. Consider that while you fight. Also, if you leave this floor at all, even via an Ariadne Thread, your tally will end there. Your score will not be considered until you defeat at least 15 of these pests. If you leave before defeating 15, you will have to accept the quest from the bar again. That concludes my explanation. If you have no further questions, we would like to begin. Ready?
That was a lot of text, but yeah, that is how this quest works. We're as ready as can be, so let's begin the fish hunt!
And then we're forced a step away from the stairs. The hunt begins.
And the hunt shall be done right here. Devilfish and Fanged Fishes have a high encounter rate near water, we don't have to worry about finding any Great Anacondas, and this is the closest one to the stairs. And don't expect me to keep count. There is a way to tell when you have enough kills, which I'll go over when I reach that point.
Maybe I should have brought a tent...
"...You think about the previous year's winning tally that the guard mentioned earlier. You can end this quest now, or continue exterminating the fish and strive for a higher score."
I take that as we don't have enough. BETTER CONTINUE!
"There is no doubt in your mind that your guild will earn a high rank in the competition. You can end this quest now, or continue exterminating the fish and strive for a higher score."
Let's continue a little longer.
"You are utterly convinced that you have destroyed enough pests to win the competition! You should find a guard and tell him that you are done with this quest."
Yeah, let's go do that.
: Hold! You're... 765 Pro, correct? Are you going to end your participation now? Should you choose to leave this floor, you can no longer join in the fish hunt. If that is your desire, feel free to leave as you wish.
"Whether you choose to leave now is your decision, but you have been given fair warning."
Time to Ariadne Thread out of here.
: Is everyone here? We will now announced the results of the Fish Extermination Competition!
That is a lot as well.
They won last year, and if they're in second place, that can only mean...
We won.
: That concludes that ranking announcement! The Senatus thanks you all for your hard work! Winning guilds, report back to the bar you accepted the quest at for your rewards. Dismissed!
Due to winning the festival, the reward of an Amrita there changes to...
: Ah, hello! Is it truth that you earned the 1st place!? The city is in an uproar! The name of the 765 Pro Guild will be known all throughout Armoroad! Enjoy your new fame as master fish exterminators! Here is your reward, along with the prize money! Take it! Do not be shy!
...5 Amritas! This is something you shouldn't pass up on, especially at this point of the game.
Let's do this one next.
: The Senatus issued this request only a moment ago! I'm very glad you are here accepting it! It seems there is a monster wandering around on B1F that is far stronger than normal. Countless novices and ordinary citizens have fallen victim to these awfulings! The request this time is to get in there and beat them down! I am thinking this will be a good test of your skills, yes? The city is counting on you! Go restore peace to the people of Armoroad, explorers!
So we have some mooks to fry. Should be too much tro-
Oh.
Yeah I can see how it might be a problem.
"The moment you step into the forest, an ear-piercing howl shakes the air around you! You think back to the request you accepted... That sound likely came from the target. You can seek out the monster and fight it, or ignore it for now and continue on your way."
So yeah.
It's time for our competence test. Let's see if we live up to it.
It's not a fairly tough fight due to how far we're in, but it still helps to maintain caution.
Now imagine me going back and healing between these fights and that sums up how it went. With Ratsel dying once.
"You have completed the request! You should report back to the bar for your reward."
Let's go do th-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
あああああああああああああああ
: Welcome to you! You are returning with safety! Yay! A guard came in a moment past and told me you accomplished the request! You are getting so strong lately! So dependable! Thankings to you, the danger is dealt with and Armoroad is resting easy now. Work the good upkeep, yes? Here is the rewardings, as promised. Do help us again!
and then a "quick" hiatus as i got a new computer and figured shit out. Let's go fishing.
So we want to go here, where the arrow is pointing. To do so, you equip the mast, which lets you go two spaces in one turn, and from the beginning,
1 "step" east
5 steps south
1 step east
1 step north
1 step east
and go north the rest of the way.
"You overcame freak currents and eddies, as well as dastardly pirates, to reach this place. You note the route to Batavia on your chart and decide to return to Armoroad and report. The day of Armoroad's return to glory is now one step closer."
: I received a report from a marine on guard. It must have been tough navigating those severe currents. Your achievements are a beacon of hope for all Armoroad. This isn't much, but I'd like you to have it.
I'm personally not a fan of sauerkraut but eh.
: It's called sauerkraut, salted cabbage invented by a Batavian merchant. It's extremely useful as food for voyages, so don't just snack on it!
More importantly, we get the Batavia Sea Quest, which unlocks something nice. I'll get to that. I figure as a good way to end this update is with one last quest.
Namely this one.
: You are actually accepting that request? It is more of an advisor position, though. It would seem the innkeeper's son found a bottle on the beach with a letter in it. He read it, and said it came from someone not of this world... I mean, this city. You can color me with the "surprised" paint! A letter, all the way across the sea! Anyway, the son wants to write a letter back, but he is not knowing what he should say. Such inexperience! But, that is what youth is. He doesn't even know if it'll get there! That's not the point, though. He wants some help in writing a letter. That's it! Now go!
Now, before I end this off, I want to ask something. I said with the Meregho Saeno fight that I'd let you guys input the commands for the fights. Considering the Narmer fight, I now realize that's a really bad idea and will make things take FOREVER. So I ask, should I just forget that and just go into a boss fight with what you guys have skilled into? It'll let me set up complete vids of the fights themselves as well, so you don't have to set up hundreds of vids to see a whole fight. And with that thrown out:
: Oh, hello, everyone. ...You're here to see me? Oh! You accepted my request!? Thank you so much! Isn't it wonderful how a letter from the outside world made it here? Oh, I'm sorry. That's not really important, is it? Let me tell you about the letter. A girl named Elly wrote the letter. She says she's a fisherman's daughter. I think she really likes flowers. She wrote a lot about this field she can see at home. That's really all there is to it... What should I say when I write back to her?
- B5F Talk Dialogues:
- : My sister's been real busy lately because more and more people are being reckless in the Labyrinth. Oh! Didn't I tell you? My sister's the one who treats people at the clinic in the back. She looks a lot like me... When we're out together, people think I'm her sister! Talk about rude!
Can't blame them with how cute he looks.
: Welcome, everyone. It seems things are going quite well for you. By the way, isn't this a lovely hair ornament? It's called a Magonote. It's all the rage amongst ladies of the eastern lands. But I doubt any of those maidens would look as fetching as I do with this Magonote in.
: I can't believe you defeated Narmer! I must be the dreamer! Be pinching me! Man, I can hardly believe you got so strong so fast. Today is a good day! Your drinks are on my tonight! Drink 'til you drop!
: The death rate of explorers jumps up sharply from B5F on. Know why? It's simple. The monsters of the Undersea Grotto are far stronger than what you've been facing. You polished off Narmer, sure, but you'll still have trouble against them. Best of luck.
: I heard from the boy at the inn that you defeated the giant catfish on B4F. My, my, the youth grows up so fast these days... Or maybe I'm just that old now? Haha! Once you pass the First Stratum, it's said that an oceanic area awaits you. If you need any advice on it, feel free to stop by. It's all an old sea dog like me can do to help out explorers who face the trials of the ocean.
: Oh, it's you. Is your exploration of the Labyrinth going smoothly? I'm interested to see just how far you can progress. I may have hit upon a winner this time at last... But that's none of your concern for now. Just know that the Senatus has high hopes for you!
