I see how wearing shades would help, but I don't think checking your blood sugar is going to stop it from changing o.o

However if you wear earplugs, THAT would apparently solve the problem for most people

You close off the world around you and focus on checking your blood sugar. The process should give you just enough time to get yourself back to an acceptable state.
