Round 69: Chaos Rising

Still waiting on people to claim to me. I was the NK target from yesterday (ergo a safe bet), so I'd rather be of some use to town before they take a second shot. I can generate a list of safe claims based on your role reveals. Plus I need to get a few players hooked up together (someone has claimed a role where if they link up with another player, they find out who Mafia is). Anyway, please claim so I can filter the truth from the bullshit. I'll be withholding my vote eitherway until then (to prevent Mafia from forcing a lynch)

I don't trust you. Getting people to PM you claims of power roles instead of calling for public claims? Sounds suspicious.

That said, I'm a doublevoter with the ability to force a lynch. Since I'm in danger, I'll probably be putting that to use.

Also, as Zyq pointed out they could have attacked Link to make him seem innocent... if you can't die why not make you look innocent as well?

... That would also explain why they tried to night-kill you even though the Lynch was against you and you should have already been dead.

I could have fake-claimed to you in our PM Cael and you'd have believed me. But I didn't because I don't need to deceive anyone. If you guys want to chance a lynch on a random, that's up to y'all, but I'd rather avoid any stupidity.

As for you Zyq, the whole point of not claiming publicly is that we DON'T want Mafia to know your roles. If they can put two and two together, they'll know who Love is my process of elimination. Ergo claiming in public as you just did is rather foolish.

In hindsight, maybe.  But you still hadn't gotten back to me about what I asked you until well after I claimed.  And considering that I believed the Mafia knew my role already. I didn't feel at a loss. I didn't know any other ways to prove Tael innocent.

Well, according to Tael, they already know who love is. And according to Cael, they can't kill him.

The night was perfectly still. It was almost as if all of Equestria was silently holding its breath. The Doctor certainly was, Derpy thought. Celestia and Luna had been in a vigilant focus for hours now, pouring their light and love into Discord's darkened soul. Discord occasionally writhed in agony, but kept a silent grimace for the most part. Derpy could tell the Doctor was tense, a trait he rarely exhibited. This made Derpy, in turn, anxious. They both knew the weight of what was about to happen in this time and the next. Failure was not an option, but success had never been so close. "We'll make it through, Doctor," Derpy whispered, "just have hope."

Chrysalis was losing control, and she knew it. She cursed under her breath and wished she'd been able to unite the chaotic forces of Discord's mind so she could better direct them. Alas, the Draconequus had perhaps too much chaos within him. Chrysalis' feared that her very success might be her undoing. Those two were ruining everything. She took a deep breath as she tried not to lose control of herself. "The battle ends tonight."

Why the hell did they target french knowing he was going to be lynched.

I believe that they knew the lynch wasn't going to kill him, and also that the nightkill wasn't going to kill him either.

I think that Zyquux is a role that can save himself from lynch by targeting someone else for the lynch, which seems innocent enough to me.

There seems to be minimal reward here for publicizing any of one's findings unless one has direct proof that another player is a wolf.

Ergo, it would appear that the best strategy here is to keep to oneself until one has something solid, especially since PMs are only used in a very limited capacity here IIRC, and there's little adversity to lurking as long as one votes once a round.

This is compounded by the fact that (given my lack of credibility here) drawing undue attention to myself, especially if I got into a voting war with an established member of this community, would likely result in my death.

TL;DR: Being as loud a voice as a player as I normally am hasn't gotten me very far before here, so I'm trying something new and seeing if it works. Hence, what might appear as inactivity to some.

If I was needed to throw out a vote, I would probably do so on French, which some of you may find surprising. Anyone able to survive NK+Lynch all at once (so it's not just a one-off tough) is suspect of being 3rd party or at least having a role with mechanics that would benefit the town to know.

In all seriousness, what proof might you have of this? How did you find out, and how can we trust you?

I know in the past iteration both teams at r3 automatically got someone placed into the game who knew the name of the other team's darkness/love automatically.

That's what happened. My role is getting darkness's true identity starting round 3.
I'm also guessing that French is indeed love as our first instinct suggested, because cloak was the only one to dismiss that.

And if you need more reason to trust me, remember that I was working with Cael from the start of round 2.

That's ridiculous. There are a number of reasons for them to target French. The most likely scenario is they knew he was Love, but didn't know that Cael's role wasn't gonna make it that easy to kill him. That is a MUCH more likely scenario than targeting one of their own for mindgame purposes.

If they didn't know he would survive an attempt to kill him, then it's reasonable to think he's not going to survive a lynch.

Then why did they attack him at night if they didn't know he'd live through the lynch? The off chance that he was unlynchable but nightkillable? It's suspect to me.

I'm inclined to agree with Tael atm. Cael's role would seem to explain French's mysterious invulnerability.

As for the fact that he was NKed and lynched, it's very possible that round ended too quickly for the wolf team to change to a different target on R1.

French is not Love.
Neither is HATER, who I claimed was to Tael privately.

Quite simply, I didn't trust the reading I got from my role peek against him. It seemed incredibly powerful to get a confirmed identity of a mafia member. The excuse that the mafia would get the same deal against a townie sounded reasonable, but there was nothing stopping Love from claiming and being piled with protections while the town hunted down the rest of the mafia.

Additionally, the claim that the mafia would get their freebie a day early was a great setup to get someone with investigator powers lynched, leaving the town without a clear-cut way to identify mafia.

There are a lot of factors that can change a lynch, as zyq demonstrated last round. Plus, if they really knew he was Love, why not be super-double-certain he's getting killed?

Is it really more suspect than the hypothesis I present, given I was collaborating with cael and have staked my reputation on a godfather claim? When Hater said that my role's very common in these types of rounds, and no-one else has claimed it?

And I'd just like to add, for everyone on the fence: We lost our roleblocker and Cael's role, and mafia know for sure who Love is. It's either Darkness gets lynched or Love dies tonight.
