1: Short hair is shit. Sengoku Rance practically requires a cheat sheet every other turn just to scratch the surface of everything you can do.
2: You still see the effects, commanders with larger armies cost more power to keep active and are more effective in battles. The fact that you don't see every person in the army hardly matters when you have a troop number, and it's sure as hell a lot easier and less CPU-intensive than having to render ever single identical soldier. There's basically just a max number of sprites that'll fit on the battlefield before they start to spill off the screen, and everyone else in the army is considered to be behind them. If your numbers dwindle, you'll see the sprites on the screen drop to match.

Having played Okami, Xenoblade, and AAI1, I'd prioritize Sengoku Rance over any of them, easily.
Re: Game suggestion thread
I hear AAI2 is leagues above the first. I'll be done with it soon enough anyway.
I actually forgot I even had Rance on my laptop.

You thought that army size was nothing more than HP, which it's not, and that the gameplay wasn't as complex as comparable games. And don't even get me started on the waifus.

I don't recall saying that first. You made the assumption based off nothing, I retorted with "who knows, maybe Total War is more complex", and that was it.

Re: Game suggestion thread
So... Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae. It certainly ain't no DMC, but it's still a good time. You can't dodge through enemy attacks and it doesn't seem like holding the guard button does much of anything, so it's either git gud at countering or git rekt. BUT HOLY FRIGGIN HELL THE LAST BOSS IS UNFAIR. I've only gotten to the second form, but my gut tells me there are more. But even still, it's unfair as all hell. What's that? You wanna close in for a hit? LOL GROUNDSWORDSPIKES. Can't jump over them because they fly up out of the ground, and she just LOVES TO SPAM IT. THREE TIMES IN A ROW AT ONE POINT. AND SHE BACKSTEPS TO DO IT. AND TRYING TO DODGE AWAY ISN'T VERY RELIABLE BECAUSE IT'S REALLY A CRAPSHOOT WITH THAT STUPID SPAM ANYWAY. AUGH.
I apologize. Turns out just running from the spikes works. Anyway, it wasn't as unfair as I claimed. I just needed to git gud. Believe me, timing is everything here. Now go play it.

Re: Game suggestion thread
So I beat AAI2 earlier today. And wow oh wow do I have a lot of compliments to throw around for it. Where do I even start.
First of all, I would like to begin with the fact I don't think there was a single case I disliked. That doesn't mean they were perfect, and a couple could really feel like they took their sweet time but they were really clever, and the best part is that not a single case was filler which is probably a first for an Ace Attorney game.
I also never thought it would be possible for me to un-hate not just one, but two characters in the fastest amount of time possible. Speaking of characters, this game had my favorite Ace Attorney villain so far, that triumphs over any villain even Trials and Tribulations had to offer. The mastermind was clever, cunning, and most of all, blunt with honesty which could make the good guys seem like bad guys to an extent. I even felt bad for the person during the breakdown. Normally you feel a massive rush of accomplishment but this marks the first time it didn't feel good, on the merit that the more I played, the somewhat-more I felt like I was the villain in a sense.
Most of all, the game is critically important to Edgeworth's development as a character, unlike the first AAI which was just murder mysteries where you play as Edgeworth. I suggest you all give this game a chance.

Re: Game suggestion thread
So I (finally) just finished Ar tonelico II.
In Cloche's ending, she asks Croix why he fell in love with her. One of the choices you can select is "I like being scolded."
If you pick it, at that point the ending devolves into Cloche yelling at him, insulting him, calling him a dog, threatening to put a leash around his neck, making him crawl on the ground on all fours, kicking him, etc.
So it's pretty much the best game ever.

Re: Game suggestion thread
I'm here for the complete opposite of this thread. I finished DmC after all this time, relatively short game. Thoughts:
4/10, pirate when bored
- Negatives:
-Donte sucks
-Story sucks
-Music for the most part sucks
-Inferior Unreal Engine
-Loading times out the anus
-Clunky action game controls
-Two dodge buttons
-No lock on
-Inputs can be awkward
-Moves like Roulette and Rainstorm were butchered
-Air Game is idiotically broken to the point where even a monkey can perform jump cancels easily
-Demon Dodge is broken
-Donte Trigger is broken
-Some unskippable cutscenes
-Lilith's Club is the worst thing ever
-D Pad is used to switch weapons and doesn't even bother using all four directions
-Clunky HOLD BUTTON TO BE GOOD OR EVIL mechanic
-Final boss for some reason needs to be killed by Donte Trigger form
-Enemies are piss easy and the game easily becomes boring as hell
-Angel Dodging is pointless
-I ended up reserving about 13 skill points by the end of the game because I didn't feel inclined to buy anything else, since all I had was already broken enough
-Way too easy to score S, way too stupid requirement wise to score SSS
-No StarRave
-No styles
-And by extension no Fly Guard
-Can't even dodge cancel
-IASA frames may as well not exist
-Mundus is mostly a rehash of the slurm queen
-Demon Whip distance is broken
-No reverse attacks
-Velocity removed
-Inertia removed
-Angel Rings are easy-crowd control win but weak otherwise
-Angel techniques are absolute garbage
-Devil Trigger fills up too slowly and is overpowered when you finally get to it
-Most skill comes from just having the patience to even so much as deal with enemies
-Ebony and Ivory have broken firing rate and stunlock
-Voice acting is kind of weird
-Barely an existent skill flooring
-Barely an existent skill ceiling
-Enemies are slow and telegraphed to hell and back just with big health bars
-Roulette now has the ability to give you virtually infinite air game, breaking the game, again
-Simon Says gimmick foes
-Donte Trigger has no interesting properties other than giving you back just about all your health and letting stupid Simon Says enemies actually be hit by any weapon
-Devil Trigger Explosion removed
-Devil Trigger Distortion removed
-Cancel options hardly exist anymore
-All enemies that can be juggled fall at the exact same weight thus giving loss of depth yet again
-Enemy hitboxes are broken thus making jump cancels easier
-Enemies fall way too slowly
-Due to removal of velocity, enemies can easily just stay in place until they die with the exception of one enemy
-WUB
- Positives:
+Environments are mostly cool
+Morphing environments are double cool
+Platforming works now

Five Nights at Freddy's I think is really overrated.
In truth it's just a game that got overhyped like all the other oddball fads such as Pooh's Baseball Derby and Cookie Clicker. Given that, it's worth a shot alone on that merit but...

If I may suggest to you some other overrated flavor-of-the-week games, you might like Gone Home.
I mean, sure, it's not exactly scary... but then again neither is Five Nights at Freddy's.

Hyrule Warriors 1.30 update added Cia, Volga, and Wizzro as playable characters and added five new chapters to Legend Mode as Cia's story.
"Darkness Falls", the last of the five chapters, is the single best chapter in the game by far. Incredibly intense and really made you feel bad for Cia.

Actually, the 5 new chapters are part of the Master Quest DLC. Only the characters are part of the 1.3.0 update.Leo E. wrote:Hyrule Warriors 1.30 update added Cia, Volga, and Wizzro as playable characters and added five new chapters to Legend Mode as Cia's story.
Also, is there some glitch with the tome that I missed because I'd say it's high tier at best.
